Super cute Erin Fetherston is one of the sweetest designers I can think of, so it’s no wonder hairstylist Odile Gilbert told me that the designer herself was the inspiration for the hair as she placed blunt bangs — Erin’s signature style — over the models’ foreheads. MAC makeup artist Lucia Pica had another muse in mind: 1970s icon Nico of the Velvet Underground. She said she wanted the girls to “look very healthy and glowing, as if they have been running in the fields,” you know, with a little Vaseline on the lens. To get the look, she massaged the models’ skin, which “really gets the blood flowing,” a trick I may or may not employ ASAP to make my complexion look a little less Fashion Week-y. Then she regaled me with another revelation: She created the entire look using only lipstick. She used MAC lipstick in Fearless on the cheeks, explaining that the oils in a lipstick help to blend into the skin and lend an exceptionally natural-looking glow. Using a shadow brush, she swept a bronze-y brown-hued MAC lippy called Cocochino over the girls’ lids, finishing the look with a dab of clear gloss on the inner corners of the eyes to make them dewy-looking.
