    Review: Katie Holmes Does Broadway

    Last night I went and saw Katie Holmes in Arthur Miller’s play “All My Sons”. Now, originally I was going to compare Katie Holmes Broadway debut to Sarah Palin’s VP debate: As long as she didn’t run off the stage screaming, vomit, or totally blank on her lines, then it was a success. But then I realized, this was just too mean for the once lovable Joey Potter. Admit it, we all used to love Katie Holmes pre-Tom Cruise — before she became a robot and was renamed “Kate”.

    Remember her on “Dawson’s Creek” as little Joey Potter who, both on-and-off- screen, dated the adorable, age-appropriate Pacey? Remember when she tried to seduce Michael Douglas in “Wonder Boys”, and we kinda wished he’d gone for her? Remember when she actually “acted” in “Pieces of April”, and came pretty darn close to pulling off quirky and deep? See! You used to like her! I did too! BUT, does this mean she belongs onstage opposite the fabulous Diane Wiest and legendary John Lithgow? Hell no, Xenu. But I’ll give her an A for effort. Keep reading »

    Harry Potter isn’t afraid to put it all out there. Daniel Radcliffe, who starred as the magical teen titan Harry Potter, earlier this week admitted he has neurological disorder, dyspraxia, which affects his coordination. But he can still cast a spell on you! Just check out his pony play spread in the September issue of Vogue. He’s riding horses and they’re all bareback — giddy up! Although the weird fetal/grandpa shot creeps us out, we’ll blame it (like the Miley Cyrus photo controversy) on famous photographer Annie Leibovitz.   • Lily Allen’s brother, Alfie, will be playing the lead role in Equus in Yorkshire this month. Yep, it’s the role Daniel Radcliffe stripped for. Alfie said that he doesn’t have any qualms about getting naked on stage: “It’s just part of the job I do. In fact it’s really liberating because you get a real sense of freedom and after a while you don’t really think about it.” [Yorkshire Evening Post]

  • Finland’s foreign minister is being pressured to resign after being accused of sending raunchy text messages to an erotic dancer. At first, the minister denied that he had sent about 200 messages to the dancer, but later apologized and said they were work-related. Huh? [AP]
