“Shameless” star Emmy Rossum has really been carving out her signature style lately, and I like what I see. Her new look is very ladylike (a lot of lace and skater skirts), a little vintage (retro satchels and cat eye sunglasses), and concentrates on a specific color palette (mostly white, black, and red, with a few pastels thrown in). She’s also much more matchy-matchy than most modern celebs, fond of wearing perfectly coordinated shoes, purses, belts, and sunglasses. I’m usually not super into that look, but on Emmy, it works. Click through to check out some of her fabulous recent outfits that earned her this week’s Street Style Star award!
I’m normally very anti-matchy when it comes to fashion. I’ll take a clash over an exact color/print match any day. Even so, this Emmy Rossum ensemble, which is about as matchy-matchy as one can get, has totally stolen my heart. I love the girly accents (lace and ballet flats!) and all that mint green (or is it baby blue? or seafoam green? let’s go with minty baby seafoam blue) works so well with her heather grey skirt. I’ve always felt a little meh about Emmy Rossum, probably unfairly based on the fact that she dated Adam Duritz from the Counting Crows, with his fake dreamlocks, and I’m just like HOW? But now I think she may actually be really funny and cool, based purely on the fact that she turned Gisele Bundchen’s “Having It All” vision board-essential Instagram photo into a meme. Tori Amos should be next, only she should be breastfeeding a pig, natch. [Instagram via NYMag.com]
This week Emmy Rossum tweeted about a really AWKWARD run-in with her gynecologist. The uncomfie part, in my opinion, was not running into the person who has an intimate relationship with her cervix, but not recognizing him. This begs the question: what was she doing last time she got a pap smear that she didn’t remember the man in her vagina? [Huffington Post]
I have no idea what Emmy Rossum is doing these days — television actress? lounge singer? used car salesperson? — but man, if she doesn’t look crazy good while doing it. Emmy served up street style to perfection two days in a row, first in a glamorous, equestrian-inspired blazer-and-boots look and then in a ladylike spotted blouse and leather skirt combo. If dressing well off-duty is the only thing she’s got going on in her career these days, then, well, she’s performing just fabulously. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
So, I’ve finally decided to succumb to peer pressure and watch the TV show “Shameless,” starring William H. Macy and the lovely lady above, Emmy Rossum. Rossum has always struck me as one of those celebs who is inexplicably famous — minimal IMDB activity and dating a has-been rock star (Adam Duritz from the Counting Crows) does not usually make one a household name. Anyway, perhaps “Shameless” will change my current opinion of Rossum. Until then, I will happily admit to loving this outfit of hers, which I can’t wait to copycat the second spring decides to arrive (as I write this, snow is coming down outside, so it may be a while). Find out how to get the whole look after the jump! Keep reading »
Even if you hate Emmy Rossum (which seems to be a popular pastime), it’s easy to love this gorgeous ensemble she wore out in NYC recently. A delicate lace dress, long black overcoat, and pop of color purse? Yes, please! Want to steal her style for yourself? We’ve got all the pieces after the jump… Keep reading »
“They didn’t want to see me; they wouldn’t even [let me] audition. They thought my image too glamorous, that I couldn’t not be pretty.”
– There might have been a way for Emmy Rossum to convey that the “Shameless” producers didn’t originally think she was edgy enough for the role of Fiona. Perhaps by simply saying so?
Instead, we’ve got our first (glamorous) foot-in-(too pretty)-mouth celebrity quote of 2013! [Manhattan Magazine]
Emmy Rossum is disconcertingly insufferable in that never-turns-down-a-party-invitation, thinks-she’s-way-more-famous-than-she-actually-is Lea Michele way that makes me want to be like, “Go home, Emmy Rossum.” (Oh, and she dated Adam Duritz, which ew.) Admittedly, she does have a pretty good voice, which she showcased to much acclaim in “The Phantom of the Opera,” but with a cover like this and a name like “Sentimental Journey,” what self-respecting person would ever purchase her new album?
Listen, I happen to love a lady who can rock menswear. Charlize Theron does it impeccably. So does Tilda Swinton, in a more avant-garde way. But Emmy Rossum, girl, this is a menswear fail. The jacket and shorts are okay but the tightly buttoned white shirt and shiny tie take this into costume territory. If only this had been styled better, it could have worked. Well, her hair and makeup look good. The rest is just, ahem, shamelessly bad. [Photo: Pacific Coast News]
