Joel McHale Trains Melissa McCarthy For Tomorrow’s Emmy Nominations Special

Tomorrow morning at exactly 5:35 a.m., Melissa McCarthy of “Bridesmaids” will join Pacey Witter Joshua Jackson of “Fringe” to announce this year’s Emmy nominees. Nervous about the gig, Melissa consulted last year’s host, the hilarious Joel McHale, for advice. And thus, this hilarious training video was born. I cracked up when Joel rubbed a puppy on Melissa’s face and told her to “feel nothing.” How cute. Though maybe not cute enough for me to set my alarm to 5:30 a.m. [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Quotable: Jon Hamm Awoke To A Fart And An Emmy Nomination

“I was in bed with Jennifer and my mutt Cora, who farted in my face. Not cool. She’s sort of over it all. … There was a flurry of texts between John Slattery, Lizzy Moss and Christina Hendricks and I. And I sent a text to Miss Jones, but have not heard a response yet. I am very certain she is still asleep.”

Jon Hamm talks about the rude awakening his dog gave him upon waking up to find out about Emmy nominations last week. Yes, he got farted on, but he also got his third nomination. [TV Guide] Keep reading »

“True Blood” And Other Shows We Can’t Believe Didn’t Get Emmy Nods

Mulling over the list of the 2009 Emmy Nominations released earlier today, I felt pretty good—Tina Fey and “30 Rock” pulled in 22 nominations, and “Mad Men” reeled in 16. “Lost,” “Flight of the Conchords,” “Weeds, “How I Met Your Mother”—they were all there. But I was flabbergasted to find that my beloved “True Blood” was nowhere to be found. I thought for sure this had to be a typo, but upon further inspection, I noticed a few other glaring omissions. After the jump, the categories we wish the Emmy folks would add so that all of our favorites walk out of the awards ceremony with a statue. Keep reading »

“Mad Men” Leads The Way On Emmy Nominations

The 2009 Primetime Emmy Nominations were announced this morning and I’m thrilled that all my favorites got nods (well, except “The Bachelor,” but I’m sure that was just an oversight). “The Office,” “30 Rock,” “Flight of the Conchords,” and “This American Life” all got nominated, and “Mad Men” cleaned house with a whopping 16 nominations, including one for best drama, best actor Jon Hamm and best actress Elisabeth Moss. How did your favorites do? The complete list is here. Keep reading »

Emmy Nominations: Where Are The Mad Women?

The Emmy nominations were announced this morning and it was exciting to see so many of our favorites on the list — 30 Rock, Mad Men, and even Amy Poehler nominated for her work on Saturday Night Live. But why oh why were the ladies from Mad Man dissed by the Academy? We were soooo hoping to see either January Jones (Betty Draper) or Elisabeth Moss (Peggy) recognized for their talents too, but old standbys like Sandra Oh from Grey’s Anatomy and Mariska Hargitay from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit got the nod instead. Snore! [Emmys.tv] Keep reading »
