Victoria Rowell Explains Her Obama Gown At The 2009 Emmys

Splash News

If Victoria Rowell had worn her Obama gown to the Emmy Awards last year, it probably wouldn’t have been so shocking because a lot of celebs were showing their support for Barack Obama‘s presidential campaign at that time. But she donned a dress with his face all over it at a time when most people are still trying to figure out whether it’s appropriate to still wear their Obama paraphernalia now that he’s president. Victoria said she was trying to make a statement and she certainly did, but I think her reasoning was lost in the shock value. She told Essence.com that health care reform was her motive for wearing the gown ...

Will Neil Patrick Harris Be The Gay Shepherd Of Hollywood?

Neil Patrick Harris

How do I love Neil Patrick Harris? Let me count the ways. I love him for his incessant high-fiving on “How I Met Your Mother” and for making me actually feel empathy for the world’s ultimate cad. I love him for suiting up in a white tuxedo to host Sunday’s Emmy Awards. I love him for his diabolical turn in Joss Whedon‘s too-fun-for-TV “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog.” I love him for having a kick-ass voice and doing the Broadway thing with ease. I love him for his cameos in “Harold and Kumar” movies. I love him for the sexy creased brow. I love him for playing a teenage doctor who posed deep questions about the meaning of relationships to his computer eons before Carrie Bradshaw.

But more than anything, I love Neil Patrick Harris for being openly gay.

Quick Pic: Step Away From The False Lashes

Kim Kardashian at the Emmys

OK Kim, honey, we need to talk. The blue eye makeup is a nice touch with your white dress—if anyone is gonna pull off Barbie makeup, it’s you girl. But those fake lashes are so long it’s a wonder you can keep your eyes open at all. Next time, three sizes smaller, m’kay? [Los Angeles, 9/20/09]

How To Get Elisabeth Moss’s Rosy Glow At The Emmys

Elisabeth Moss at the Emmys

Peggy Olson has really stepped up her look on the current season of “Mad Men,” but she still isn’t quite as lovely as Elisabeth Moss is when she’s out of character. The actress looked quite nice on the red carpet last night with her simple makeup that eschewed the Hollywood trend to heap on the bronzer. Find out how to get her look after the jump!

Blake Lively’s Boobs And Legs Roam Free In Yet Another Red Carpet Gown

pic of Blake Lively

It’s hard being Blake Lively. Between Leighton Meester‘s alleged sex tape, Ed Westwick‘s stupid tattoos, and Taylor Momsen‘s incessant partying, she’s the only class act “Gossip Girl” has got going. Yet, when it comes to the red carpet, subtlety eludes the poor thing.

Fashion Slideshow: The Emmy Awards Gone Purple

Padma

We’ve covered the red carpet style from top to bottom, but did anyone notice that it was a sea of purple at last night’s Emmys? It seemed every other starlet was draped in a plum-y gorgeous gown. (Safe to say it’s the “yellow” of the 2009 Emmys with just about 10 women choosing violet.) From Padma Lakshmi, above, to Ginnifer Goodwin in drape-y Yves Saint Laurent, the carpet was awash in purple. Not that I’m complaining! Check out all the same-hued dress choices—ah-mazing.

Fashion Slideshow: The 2009 Emmy Awards

Emmy Awards

We already told you who won, but how was the fashion at last night’s Emmy Awards? I thought most of the ladies played it safe, but there weren’t too many messes on the red carpet either. My pick for best dressed? January Jones, above (in Atelier Versace), who plays Betty Draper on “Mad Men.” Her gown was classic yet modern and edgy at the same time. And The Emmy Goes To ...

Emmy Award Winners

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards hosted by the always-adorable-and-never-douchey Neil Patrick Harris was last night. While it wasn’t perhaps as interesting as last weekend’s VMA awards on MTV, there were a few surprises — and some great fashion, which I’m sure we’ll discuss more of throughout the day. Before we get to the best- and worst-dressed lists, let’s see who went home with an Emmy. After the jump, a list of the 2009 Emmy winners for the categories you really care about (for a full list of winners, click here).

TV’s Funniest Ladies Sit Down To Gab

Some of the funniest ladies ever—i.e. Amy Poehler, Sarah Silverman, Christina Applegate, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mary-Louise Parker and Jane Krakowski—got together for an Emmy round table and it’s pretty adorable. Suck it, Christopher Hitchens!

Worst Moments Of The Boring Emmy Awards

The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards honored and celebrated the best of TV entertainment yesterday, but unfortunately the award ceremony itself was not entertaining. The award winners were either obvious and dull or unexpected and disappointing. And since most of the winners are from niche cable shows, the jokes didn’t tie the ceremony together. In case you missed the show last night or if you want to relive the horror, we’ve compiled a list of the worst moments after the jump.

Slideshow: The Only Thing Vaguely Interesting About The Emmy’s Were The Clothes

America Ferrera

I love award shows, so this means something coming from me—The Emmy’s sucked. And I’m not just bitter because Jon Hamm didn’t win Best Actor in a Drama Series for playing Don Draper on “Mad Men”. The best moment, by far, of the whole night was Tina Fey’s acceptance speech, but outside of that, the only thing I could muster up any enthusiasm about was the clothes. After the jump, ten looks that stood out, to go along with our poll below.

Monday Menage: Emmy Winners Jeff Probst, Jeremy Piven, & Jon Stewart

Emmy Winners Jeff Probst, Jeremy Piven, & Jon Stewart

Last night Emmy’s were a snooze fest, but there were some real winners we want to sleep with!  First, Jon Stewart, the Daily Hotness alum who hosts “The Daily Show”, won a statuette for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series.  Stewart makes us sweat his sexy, suit wearin’ style and then gets us giggly with his silly side.  The second stud with a statue, “Survivor”’s Jeff Probst, winner of the Outstanding Host for a Reality Program, makes being marooned on deserted island look GOOD. Something tells us, if we ever got a hold of the raw footage of that show, we’d have proof that perfectly bronzed Probst doesn’t have any tan lines.  The third winner of the night, Jeremy Piven, aka Ari Gold from “Entourage”, has been making us want to seal the deal since his film roles in the early ‘90s. He won last night for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, but we’d like to make him our main man…or at least part of the hottest ménage in Hollywood. So while these three winners have never been in anything together, we ladies of The Frisky would like to offer to be their first joint creative project. [Buzz Sugar]
