Ellie Goulding’s ballad “Love Me Like You Do” was released on YouTube today, and I’m not really sure how I feel about it. Max Martin produced the song, which was specially written for the “50 Shades of Grey” soundtrack. After that oh-so-sultry version of “Crazy In Love” in the film’s trailer, I was expecting something with a bit more oomph. I’m an Ellie fan in general though, so maybe it’ll grow on me. The soundtrack’s full tracklist hasn’t been released yet, but something tells me it might be more engaging than the movie itself. [Rolling Stone]
Love is dead. Wee dubstep moppet Skrillex and girlfriend Ellie Goulding have split, their love apparently a casualty of Hurricane Sandy, or STDs or whatever, who cares? Actually, according to Us, it was the travails of a long distance relationship. It’s over,” said a “source” who is frayuns with Goulding told the mag. “There’s no bad blood. Just a classic case of long distance being impossible. They hope to remain good friends.” Said another source-cical, “Work schedules and distance took their toll. She’s fine though.” The important thing is, who gets to keep the haircut? [Us Weekly]
This is so cool: Ellie Goulding solicited photos from fans to create a lyric video project for her new song, “Anything Can Happen,” off her forthcoming album, Halcyon. Fans submitted over 1,200 pics and a great deal of them made it into the final video (above). The song is devine and I love the Instagram-y vibe of the vid. Enjoy!
Woo-hoo! Tina Fey is returning to her old stomping grounds, “Saturday Night Live,” this weekend. She will be hosting while Ellie Goulding, aka the chickadee who played the royal wedding, does the musical guest thing. “SNL” promos are never quite as funny as I want them to be, but still—just had to share these because we love Tina that much.
