Elle Creative Director Joe Zee Wanders New York City In A Chanel Fur Suit

Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Joe Zee. But if you watch “The City,” Elle magazine’s creative director comes across as fun but a little bit of a hard-nose. Here, though, in this hilarious video, we get to see another side of Zee, making fun of himself. For some reason, Zee decided it would be a good idea to meander through the streets of Manhattan during a heatwave looking for the zoo and wearing a giant faux-fur suit from Chanel’s fall-winter runway show. It’s Yeti Zee! Watch as Joe sunbathes his fur, gets a hairball, and tells everyone his hair is couture. [Racked] Keep reading »

Quotable: Rihanna Talks About Matt Kemp And Chris Brown

“I have a boyfriend [Matt Kemp]. I’m so happy. I feel really comfortable, and it’s so easy. I have such a chaotic life, but at the end of the day, that is just my peace. It keeps me sane, really, talking to him and talking to my family … A year ago, I was very confused. Because [Chris Brown] was my best friend. All of a sudden, one night changed our whole lives—not only our friendship, but our lives. I wanted to wake up one day and just not have that pain anymore. I wanted to be with him again or get over him—it was either-or. I just didn’t want to feel the pain, the confusion.”

Rihanna also talks fashion designers, the strength and vulnerability of women and stardom, in the July issue of Elle [The YBF] Keep reading »

Helena Christensen Is Pro-Nudity Past 40

Could middle-aged women become the new ideal of female hotness? It would seem Helena Christensen thinks so, as the 40-year-old supermodel has been making moves to adjust image standards. She appeared nude on the cover of i-D this month (along with Eva Herzigova and Claudia Schiffer), and is also in the buff for a spread (no pun intended) in Elle‘s January issue. According to the Telegraph, Christensen is, “flabbergasted that people could be offended by pictures of naked women.” In the accompanying article, Helena also admits: “I have no problems with showing my body. I love the female shape. It’s crazy — you can have movie posters with men with machine guns but oh, God forbid you show nipples.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. While we give kudos to Christensen’s embrace of the female form at all ages, we do have to say … do many 40-year-old women look as good as her naked? [Telegraph.co.uk] Keep reading »

What Your Favorite Fashion Bloggers Are Wearing Today

We’re a tad biased, but we happen to think that fashion bloggers are pretty legit when it comes to clothing selection (as opposed to sitting around in sweats all day, which is fine too, but … ). Proving our theory are a handful of e-fashion mavens who recently ran wild in the closets of Elle magazine to put together their favorite day and night looks. Honestly, there’s really not an outfit in the bunch that we wouldn’t happily steal. From Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power (left) of WhoWhatWear to the now-ubiquitous Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes, Elle covered quite the spectrum, style-wise. Check out more pics after the jump and the rest here. [Elle] Keep reading »

Quick Pic: Victoria Beckham Will Have To Hold Her Birkin Bag With Just One Arm

For Elle‘s October issue, the magazine’s subscribers will receive the above cover, which shows Victoria Beckham in complicated lingerie and missing her left arm. Perhaps her enormous Birkin bag got the best of it. Keep reading »

Is Lindsay Lohan A Kleptomaniac?

British cops want to question Lindsay Lohan about $400,000 worth of Dior jewelry that went missing after a photo shoot she did for Elle Magazine. They don’t think she took the expensive bling, but she was the last person seen wearing the stuff. [NY Daily News]

But I’m not so sure—Lindsay always seems to be hanging around when goods are ganked, and this isn’t the first time Lindsay has been caught stealing up in a theft-related incident. Check out the very circumstantial evidence after the jump. Keep reading »

Where To Meet Him: Charity Fundraisers

This month’s Elle Magazine has kind of a good idea. Rather than logging on to Match.com or waiting to bump into a hottie at the grocery store, start scoping men at charity fundraisers. Why? Because if they care about a cause you do, then you already have something in common and an easy way to start a conversation. And since they had to buy a reasonably expensive ticket to get in, they’re bound to be a little more together than the guy you’d meet at your local dive bar. And, hey, if there’s no one there to your liking, no biggie—enjoy yourself and know you’re supporting a good cause. While I’m not saying to go to fundraiser events as a way of boyfriend shopping, I am saying that if you get an invite to a gala or come across something you’d like to support, it may not hurt to test the waters. Britney Spears Doesn’t Know What’s Appropriate At A Photo Shoot

Last year, Britney Spears totally embarrassed herself by acting erratic at an OK! Magazine photo shoot. She wiped her grease covered hands on a several thousand dollar dress. Her dog crapped on the floor, and Brit Brit used another dress to clean it up. Not to mention she once showed the world her period panties. Although Britney has cleaned up her act, she still doesn’t know what’s appropriate at a photo shoot. A spy for the New York Post, says the pop tart’s recent Elle shoot was a total disaster because she forgot about her period. Yes, Britney apparently ruined beautiful couture clothes with her menstrual blood. [NYPost.com]

I don’t know how this could happen to any adult woman. You don’t just forget about your period. There are several tell-tale signs, besides a bloody stain — sore breasts, cramping, irritable mood, or the fact that it comes every month, unless you’re pregnant or have some biological issue. Nina Garcia Wishes Crocs Were Never Invented

nina garcia photo

Last night, Project Runway judge, current Elle editor-at-large, and soon-to-be Marie Claire fashion director Nina Garcia had a “discussion and book signing” at the Tribeca Barnes & Noble in New York. The audience was a mixed bag: at least 15 men, a few tween PR fans, a couple fashion risk-takers (the girl to my right had on a very Carrie Bradshaw pink tulle flower headband), and a number of middle-aged ladies who wore their un-highlighted hair pulled back in ponytails. Nina was wearing a black dress designed by none other than friend and fellow PR judge Michael Kors.

Now, Nina seems to have been a writing machine over last couple years, because her first book, The Little Black Book of Style came out just over a year ago, in September. Her new one, The One Hundred, includes illustrations by Ruben Toledo, though, so there’s not that much text, at least from what I could tell when I sneaked peeks at my fellow audience members’ copies.
