Elizabeth Warren Life Advice

“Never be so faithful to your plan that you are unwilling to consider the unexpected. Never be so faithful to your plan that you are unwilling to entertain the improbable opportunity that comes looking for you. And never be so faithful to your plan that when you hit a bump in the road — or when the bumps hit you — you don’t have the fortitude, grace and resiliency to rethink and regroup. Plans or no plans, keep a little space in your heart for the improbable. You won’t regret it.”

Senator Elizabeth Warren shared this gem of wisdom when asked what she wishes she could tell her 22-year-old self. So valid and applicable, no matter what your age or career path. Kickass Woman Of The Day: Senator Elizabeth Warren, Who’s Trying To Save Students Buried Under Mounds Of Debt

Student loan debt in America currently totals $1.2 trillion, and is rising quickly. As graduation day approaches, the class of 2014 might be feeling less than hopeful about their future, faced with a less-than-stellar job market and tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars of debt accrued in the process of getting a degree. Oh my God, you guys. I didn’t realize just how BIG us pro-choice feminists won last night’s election until compiling this list. It’s not just that we have more four years of President Obama — we also have our first openly gay person to serve in the Senate, the first Asian-American women in both the House and Senate, the first Hindu to serve in Congress, and several other “firsts” too numerous to list.

I could honestly not be prouder to be a progressive American than I am today. And yes, I’m including 2008 in that statement! After the jump, thanks to EMILY’S List, here is a list of all the pro-choice female politicians who won last night.

Scott Brown Pays Homeless To Be His “Supporters”

The Scott Brown campaign has admitted that it has been paying homeless people to demonstrate in Boston’s working-class Roxbury neighborhood with signs declaring themselves “Obama Supporters for Brown.” Benjamin Thomas, the former city elections commissioner running the operation, tells the Boston Herald that these “supporters” are paid a per-diem that “works out to” about $8 an hour, financed through the GOP’s MassVictory program. But he insists that all of them would support Brown even if they weren’t being paid. Thomas, who is black, says the program is designed to appeal to black voters.  Read more…
