7 Must-Have Fashion Items, According To Elizabeth Taylor

Fashion trends may come and go, but true style is eternal. Just ask Elizabeth Taylor, who recently sat down to talk style with out friends at Stylelist. Take lessons from her, darlings, because she certainly knows what she’s talking about. “I don’t follow the dictates of fashion,” she said.” “I stay true to my own style, wearing the things that inspire me and not just what’s shown on the runway or in fashion magazines.” And she’s been through it all: Hollywood, marriages, health issues, brilliant acting roles, not to mention that fact that she was named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. In all her experience, she’s gained more sartorial knowledge than most — fashion icons Halston, Edith Head, Helen Rose, Irene Sharaff, Versace and Valentino are her good friends — so jump through for eight of her must-have fashion items. Poor Babies: Celebrities Who Tweet From Their Sick Beds!

Tori Spelling has been in and out of the hospital all week, complaining of severe abdominal pain. Apparently, seeking treatment has brought no relief, or even a conclusive diagnosis. I know this because her husband, Dean McDermott, has been keeping me posted 140 alphanumeric characters at a time. Tweeting about going to the hospital seems a surprising way to handle stress when a loved one is ill—at first. When I went back further into Dean’s twitter history I noticed he’d had an unspeakably unpleasant flu virus earlier this month. I noticed because he squawked, I mean tweeted, about his own discomfort more than he tweeted about Tori’s. To be fair, several tweets were concern for the health of his family, as he started his own recovery. There was something familiar, though, about the progression of these sick celebrity tweets. Has it become a celebrity trend to tweet health updates to concerned fans? After the jump, five more cases of celebrities tweeting their sickness. Keep reading »

Big, Big Love: One Man, 86 Wives

While three sister wives may seem like one big, happy family on Big Love, try having 86! Mohammed Bello Abubakar, an 84-year-old Muslim preacher in Nigeria, has married more women than years he’s been alive and most of his wives are, surprisingly, in their twenties. Can you imagine trying to feed the 170 children he’s fathered?! Neither he nor his wives work, but they somehow manage to pay for the $915 (26.5 lbs) worth of rice they consume each day. Needless to say, the Islamic Authorities in his home state consider him a cult leader, but he fancies himself a shaman who doesn’t believe in modern medicine. Abubakar credits his healing powers with his ability to attract so many women. He told the BBC, “I don’t go looking for them, they come to me. I will consider the fact that God has asked me to do it and I will just marry them… That is why I have been able to control 86 of them.” Um, what a romantic? [BBC] Keep reading »

Bono Isn’t The Only Famous Godparent

By now you’ve probably heard that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have asked Bono to be godfather to their twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. And that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz are considering John Mayer for godfather of their unborn child. I’ve never really thought about famous godparents probably because I’ve never really had a great relationship with my own godparents, except for my late Uncle Eddie. However, when this news broke, we at The Frisky decided to research other famous godparents and realized some of these relationships are really surprising. Keep reading »

Elizabeth Taylor’s 10 Greatest Films, Three Most Glamorous Perfume Commercials

Today, some sad news, if you consider The National Enquirer a reputable source. According to the tabloid, Elizabeth Taylor was put on life support and is in very grave condition. While our fingers are crossed that Liz pulls through (she’s cheated death before!), we’ve pulled together a list of her films that you simply MUST NOT miss. While she’s become known in her later years for her work with AIDS charities, her friendship with Michael Jackson, her eight marriages, her portrayal of Helena Cassadine on General Hospital (maybe that’s just me), and her stupendously old-fashioned and glam fragrance line, it should not be forgotten that Liz is one of the best actresses ever. Consider the montage of her perfume commercials (above) to be a trailer. Her Top Ten Movies are after the jump… Keep reading »
