Anybody who says they don’t like Halloween is lying. Everybody loves Halloween, including zoo animals. To help get you in the holiday spirit, take a cue from these pumpkin-smashing elephants who classily stomp on them until a younger elephant comes along and just goes totally ham. Kind of like the kid who submerges his entire body in water and thrashes around while bobbing for apples, this elephant smashes the pumpkins and rolls around in them until he knows they’re good and flattened. This adorable elephant calf was born at 2:17 a.m. today at the Oregon Zoo. If her cute little elephant beard isn’t enough to brighten up your dreary Friday, well, consider the fact that no matter how crappy your day might seem, you almost certainly didn’t spend the past 30 hours in labor with a 300-pound baby. Nicole Richie and Joel Madden tied the knot this weekend, two kiddos and four years later. The two got hitched at Lionel Richie’s estate, and Nicole wore a strapless Marchesa get-up. While there’s no word on whether any dancing on the ceiling went down during the reception, there is one very curious element to the ceremony—apparently, a trained elephant was led into the proceedings. Which is interesting, because when Katy Perry and Russell Brand got married in October, their procession included two elephants.
