Some Things You Might Do If You Won Princess Beatrice’s Royal Wedding Hat

Last week, Sarah Ferguson announced on “The Oprah Show” that her daughter Beatrice would be putting her crazy lady octopi fascinator up for sale on eBay, and that proceeds would benefit UNICEF. The auction doesn’t end until May 22, but bids are already up to more than $30,000. So what might one do if you won the famous fascinator? Well, you’re going to want to get a lot of use out of it, obvs. For $30,000, it better do my taxes and clean the litter box. I’ve come up with some creative uses for Beatrice’s hat after the jump. Someone Is Trying To Make Retro Period Belts Happen

Gather round, girls, let me tell you a story. Before the late-’70s, when Aunt Flo came to visit, women would have to wear contraptions called sanitary belts. They were diaper-like and came all the way up to an elastic waistband. Oh, the horror! Do you love ’60s fashion and wish you had access to the hit show’s wardrobe? Or, maybe you’d just love to outfit your apartment with some of the show’s cool mid-century props. Beginning last night and going through the 22nd, furniture, props, and three iconic dresses worn on the show — including the green dress Joan wore in the infamous lawnmower episode — are up for auction on eBay. The 10-day celebrity auction will benefit the Lung Cancer Program and the City of Hope. “This auction offers Mad Men fans an exciting new way to connect with the series while helping to support City of Hope’s important work in research and treatment of lung cancer,” said Sandra Stern, the COO of TV for the show’s producer, Lionsgate.
