Mobama Is, Like, Obsessed With Monique Pean

With Earth Day quickly approaching, it’s time to devote your attention to nature. Whether you’re one of the smart few who regularly works to keep our planet healthy, or you’ve just become inspired as of late, it’s important to recognize those who marry their talents with their passion to save the world. One jewelry designer who’s always given her attention to Mother Nature is Monique Pean. And she has some major support, in the form of Michelle Obama. The designer started her career in finance, but realized her passion for jewelry and launched her own line in 2005, with a major focus on staying socially responsible and eco-friendly by using conflict-free stones only. Monique won the 2009 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and the 2009 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award for Accessories, partnered with Charity:Water, and supports the No Dirty Gold campaign — proving that her talent is one to watch, for both her message and gems. In the time she’s been creating, she quickly she gained the love of MObama. Recently, the First Lady was spotted in Mexico City, practically dripping in jewelry by Monique Pean. Cue the Earth Month product marketing. Each year around this time, we start receiving dozens upon dozens of press releases heralding April launches that are so loosely tied to anything remotely environmentally-friendly we have to laugh.
