Fashion, Music, And Forbidden Love

“Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky,” the true story of forbidden romance between two of the most creative minds of the 20th century, is out on Blu-ray and DVD today. Roger Ebert said this film, which was directed by renowned French filmmaker Jan Kounen, is an excellent biopic. It stars Anna Mouglalis, a former Chanel model, and Mads Mikkelsen. The film features exquisite costumes, including archive pieces from the House of Chanel and pieces designed by Karl Lagerfeld, as well as a score dominated by many of Stravinksy’s works.

“Daria” On DVD, Finally!

La, la, la, la, la, I’ve got to be direct, I’ve been waiting for “Daria” on DVD ever since MTV took the “Beavis and Butt-Head”-spinoff off the air. Daria was to alt-girls what Cher Horowitz was to Valley girls. She made it okay to wear combat boots and not care about the latest fads. And her sarcasm was lethal, proving that a girl with brains and glasses can stand up for herself. How Can We Score A Copy Of “Fine: The Basics Of Beauty” DVD?

Sam Fine is a makeup pro whose career has spanned more than 10 years. He’s made up almost everyone, including Tyra Banks, Vanessa Williams, and Jennifer Hudson. So we were totes excited to learn he’s releasing “Fine: The Basics of Beauty,” a DVD version of his Fine Beauty, which promises to help the everyday woman get dolled up and look naturally gorgeous. The makeup master lets us in on the secret to bronze-y skin, pouty lips, and perfectly-arched brows by making up three women with different skin tones and beauty needs. Sounds exciting right? Well, in an evil plot to keep us from becoming our own Sam Fine, his website says the DVD was released last month, but we can’t find it anywhere. Who is this twisted person that would dangle a gem like this in front of our faces, but not deliver? We will keep checking Amazon, because when it comes to looking fine, we won’t be deterred! We See Chick Flicks: Not-To-Miss DVDs During Summer Blockbuster Season
