Avon Calling: What We’re Buying

Avon sells tons of beauty and skin products, but did you know you can actually add to your wardrobe by leafing through a brochure or surfing the website? We especially love Avon and mark’s jewelry. Tricky Bras For Tricky Dresses

I’ve always been a bit envious of friends who could go sans bra without feeling crazy self-conscious. That level of hippie-esque chest freedom, I figured, has to be awesome.

So, I tried it and going braless is definitively not awesome, if you ask me. That said, being married to a bra shouldn’t keep you from wearing slinky, criss-crossed fashions all summer long.

If you want to pull it off, you’ve got to get creative with your undergarments. Keep reading »

Crave: Lulu’s Pleated Dress

This might be the perfect spring dress. The bright turquoise is fun and casual, and the interesting pleat detail fancifies the frock for cocktail parties. The origami bodice is supported by interior boning, which is great for bigger-chested ladies who know that strapless bras don’t always do the trick. As an added plus, the sash at the waist adds a body-flattering detail. While this ladylike strapless number looks like the type of high-end fashion Scarlett Johansson would sport on the red carpet, we couldn’t be more stoked about the price: $47. [$47, LuLu's] Keep reading »

Crave: Go International One Shoulder Print Dress

We’re just dying to put some spring into our wardrobe, but we don’t want to freeze our tuckus off. So we’ll pair this bold color dress with a pair of tights, strappy sandals, and a cardigan. And since this one shoulder dress is less than $40, we’ll be able to pick up everything else we need too. Where? At Target, of course. Who doesn’t love one-stop shopping? [$39.99, Target.com] Keep reading »

Crave: Topshop Stripe Block Poplin Dress

Look naughty and nautical in this cutie-pie poplin dress from Topshop. Of course, Topshop hasn’t opened Stateside yet (be patient until April, our pet) so you’ll have to import this little number from England. It comes in red, too, in case you’re channeling “candy striper,” not “longshoreman.” [About $80, TopShop.com] Keep reading »

Crave: Shiny V-Back Sweater Dress

The first real day of spring — not the official start of spring, but the first day you notice the leaves are green, the birds are singing, and you feel warmth on your skin — will arrive in no time, so it’s time to get your wardrobe ready. This sweater dress oozes sex appeal and sophistication, but it’s also a perfect transition piece, since it’s made of a lightweight fabric. We think it’ll look best with a belt, heels, and simple jewelry. [$140, BananaRepublic.com] Keep reading »

Style On The Street: Jumpers For Adults

This girl is wearing what I call a “jumper” and others call a sleeveless dress with a shirt underneath. What a wonderful way to wear favorite summer dress during the winter! Just make sure to put on a slip underneath — my tights always create static cling with thinner, unlined skirts. [Weardrobe] Keep reading »

Poll: What Color Dress Will Michelle Obama Wear On Inauguration Night?

Michelle Obama is wearing a gold-infused yellow dress and coat set by Isabel Toledo for the Inauguration Day events, but what about Inauguration Night? Of course, we’re dying to know what designer she’s chosen, but we’re even more curious about the color of it after today’s surprising pale lemon (with green shoes). Keep reading »

Fashion Slideshow: Floaty Mini-Dresses

Occasionally these slideshows are conceptualized for selfish reasons. When I went to Paris a couple years ago, I scored the sweetest pair of Tara Jarmon two-tone flat brown riding boots (somewhat similar pair to the left). They are basically my most favorite things ever, but I do find them a little hard to pair with the clothes in my closet. Sure I can tuck my jeans into them, but I actually think they look best with tights and a floaty mini-dress — layer a coat over top and I’ve got a pretty sweet Fall/Winter ensemble. After the jump, 10 dresses I found that would work perfectly — and if you’re down for finding your own pair of riding boots, PiperLime.com has a bunch of different styles for all budgets.
