What kind of racist bullshit is this?! A charter school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, sent a seven-year-old Black girl named Tiana Parker home from school because her dreadlocks were considered “unacceptable.”
But dreads aren’t the only hairstyle that’s not A-OK with Deborah Brown Community School: according to Raw Story, the school policy states that “hairstyles such as dreadlocks, afros, mohawks, and other faddish styles are unacceptable.” Keep reading »
Paging Winona: There’s a dreadlocked lothario almost-killer roaming your fair city of Portland. It seems that this dreadlocked dude attempted to strangle his girlfriend to death using one of his dreadlocks. (Please insert terrible, “talk about organic” joke here.) I guess sometimes you work with what you have — and in the case of 32-year-old Portland, Oregon, resident Caleb Grotberg, he had dreadlocks at hand.
Now, let me clear — there is nothing funny, at all, about a woman being victimized by a dude and his dreads, and we’re glad to hear that the victim survived the attack. But there is something eternally funny about a white dude with dreadlocks. Keep reading »
Hey guys, I’m on the Adam Duritz Diet. That’s where I zoom in real close on a photo of the Counting Crows’ frontman’s dreads and then I’m not hungry anymore. It’s almost lunch but now I don’t care! I can’t remember how it happened, but one lucky day, I stumbled upon the chescalocs YouTube Channel, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Video blogger Franchesca, or Chescaleigh, as she’s known on Facebook, is extremely creative and hilarious. I’ve developed a habit of falling down the rabbit hole that is her YouTube channel, where she tutors on loc hairstyles and gives tips for maintenance, for hours at a time. She’s given me the courage to experiment more with my locs, or dreadlocks as some people call them. Keep reading »
What’s even more exciting than a famous lady with cornrows? A famous dude rocking dreadlocks. Here, Bradley Cooper shows off the hairstyle he’s sporting in his next movie. Oh and did I mention that he’s fallen in love on the set? His new squeeze is named Anastasia and she’s quite a bit younger—two-and-a-half years months old, to be exact. Relax, she’s that baby tiger he’s holding. “He just took her and she immediately fell in love with him,” says Anastasia’s trainer. “He has some kind of an animal connection inside of him that’s fairly obvious.” Growl.
