A Drake-Themed Needlepoint Is A Totally Normal Present, Right?

A Drake-Themed Needlepoint Is A Totally Normal Present, Right?

Taylor Swift made this needlepoint, featuring Drake’s “Started From The Bottom” lyrics, for her pal Ed Sheeran. Taylor’s handwork is mentioned in the MTV documentary “9 Days and Nights of Ed Sheeran,” and I can only hope Ed offers more of a backstory about it in the film because I’m totally confused. Or maybe I’m just jealous that Taylor’s so good at crafting. [Jezebel] [Image via MTV]

“Fake Drake” Asks People What They Think About Drake

Yes, That's Really Drake

Okay, so Drake did act like a giant baby after his Rolling Stone cover was nixed following Philip Seymour Hoffman’s sudden death. But this proves he can laugh at himself, so he’s back in my good graces: “Jimmy Kimmel Live” sent Drake out with a beard and a wig to ask people their feelings about Drake. Everyone, it turns out, hates Drake.  They go on and on and on about how they don’t like Drake. And then he starts peeling his fake beard off and, well, you can imagine what happens next … [YouTube]

Mindf**k: Artist Updates Vintage Ads With Modern Day Celebrities

For the past year, Paris-based art director David Redon has been contributing a few hours a week to a unique hobby: Photoshopping modern celebrities into vintage advertisements. “I like the shift between vintage and modern pop culture,” he says, “because these days the border between art and commercial is very small, and artists work their images like brands do.” Redon’s handiwork lets us see what it might look like for Don Draper to design an ad campaign starring Rihanna, Drake, Beyonce, or Daft Punk. Click on the Riri/Drake ad above to check out a few more of Redon’s designs that will make you wish “Pharrell’s Happy Toothpaste” actually existed. [Design Taxi]

Rihanna’s Backpack Is Not Screwing Around

Today, Rihanna arrived in the U.S. on a plane bound from London. But she did not travel alone! No, RiRi disembarked with the world’s largest backpack containing god only knows what. Weed? Dollar bills? Drake? You heard it here first. Teeny tiny backpacks are out, massive backpacks that could theoretically hide a Canadian rapper are in. [Photos: Fame-Flynet/Splash News]

Drake Sort Of Apologizes For Complaining That Rolling Stone Replaced His Cover With Philip Seymour Hoffman

  • Drake apologized — sort of — on his website today for complaining on Twitter that he was “disgusted” that Rolling Stone replaced his planned cover with one honoring Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died recently of a drug overdose.  ”I completely support and agree with Rolling Stone replacing me on the cover with the legendary Phillip Seymour Hoffman,” Drizzy wrote. “He is one of the most incredible actors of our time and a man that deserves to be immortalized by this publication. My frustration stemmed from the way it was executed.” But then he said people took his “initial comments out of context” and implied Rolling Stone should have asked him permission or even input on how to handle the piece. I don’t know, he still comes off looking very arrogant to me. [Octobers Very Own via Entertainment Weekly]

Drake Whines That Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Death Took Away His Rolling Stone Cover

“[Rolling Stone] also took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue. I’m disgusted with that. RIP to Phillip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil. I’m done doing interviews for magazines. I just want to give my music to the people. That’s the only way my message gets across accurately.”

Drake is angry at Rolling Stone for allegedly publishing quotes in a forthcoming article which throw shade at Kanye West, whom he has performed with and been mentored by in the past. He claims he “never commented on Yeezus for my interview portion of Rolling Stone” — though that doesn’t make clear whether he dissed Kanye while a reporter was within earshot or the quotes were made up. (I am guessing the former.) Either way, complaining he is “disgusted” because Rolling Stone replaced his cover with one HONORING A BELOVED ACTOR’S DEATH is super egotistical and tacky. You’ll have plenty of time for more covers while you’re still, you know, alive, Drake. All respect due? Yeah, right. (Drake has since deleted the tweets about PSH. The internet never forgets, Drizzy.) [Stereogum]

Drake Impersonates Lil Wayne As Steve Urkel On “Saturday Night Live”

"Y'all got any cheese?"

Justin Timberlake, you got some competition. Last night, Drake did double duty as both the host and musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” and totally slayed every skit. The episode also marked the debut of new Black female cast member Sasheer Zamata, who got lots of screen time (though not a ton of actual lines, but that’s to be expected with a new cast member). My personal favorite sketch was this BET “Before They Were Stars” spoof, featured various hip-hop acts who got their start on ’90s TV shows. Drake as Lil Wayne as Steve Urkel on “Family Matters”? Pure fucking genius. And I loved Sasheer’s sendup of Rihanna as the “Blossom” of Barbados. That pussy pat is on point. Watch above! (P.S. Nevermind the fact that Sway is not a host on BET.)

Drake And The Game Donate $22,500 For Funeral Of Ohio Woman’s Partner And Children

Drake donates money for children's funeral

Drake may be the softest rapper in the game, but there’s something to be said for Wheelchair Jimmy’s heart of gold. Ohio woman Anna Angel was working her shift at the local Burger King when a blaze tore through her trailer home, killing her boyfriend and their five young children. Drake and fellow rapper The Game, who recently pledged $1 million to The Robin Hood Project, have promised to donate the full $22,5000 fee required for the funeral of Angel’s tragically lost family. Drake posted a picture of the family to his Instagram on Tuesday, writing alongside the photo, “Myself and @thedocumentary are donating a total of $22,500 to Ana Angel.. who lost her boyfriend & their 5 children in a house fire on behalf of @therobinhoodproject #therobinhoodproject … What @thedocumentary is doing will never be forgotten. Honored to be able to help people along side my brother.” Good work, boys. [Gossip Cop]
