I have something to say to my lady blogger friends who write about domestic violence. Please tread more carefully with your words, and please don’t be so sure you know what you’re talking about. Unless you a) have been in an abusive relationship or b) are a professional who is trained to treat people in abusive relationships, you could be doing more harm than good.

Dr. Drew Pinsky hit up Lance Bass’ SiriusXM radio show and made some eyebrow-raising comments regarding Chris Brown and Rihanna. He started off on a high note, discussing how difficult it is for a woman to leave her abuser. “On average, it takes a woman in a domestic violence situation eight attempts at leaving before she leaves,” Dr. Drew said. “They go back — they misinterpret the intensity as love. They think it’s so intense and great, ‘He loves me so much, that’s why he got so upset.’ We haven’t heard the end of this.”

Lance Bass then asked him if he thinks Rihanna has battered woman syndrome and Dr. Drew replied, “Let’s face it, she’s attracted to that …  Listen, I don’t fault either person. I don’t [say,] ‘Oh, it’s a bad person.’ These are human experiences. These are very common situations these days.” Keep reading »

Dr. Drew Pinsky is facing allegations that he was bribed and had accepted $275,000 to talk up the antidepressant drug Wellbutrin SR during his radio and television show “Loveline.”  While hosting the shows “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” and “Sober House,” Pinksy made sure to discuss the benefits of taking Wellbutrin SR, including its ability to “increase libido,” but never presented himself as a representative of the drug company that makes it, GlaxoSmithKline. Dr. Drew Pinsky is utterly clueless about about bondage, dominance, and sadomascochism in relationships and has no business discussing them on national television. That is my conclusion after seeing Dr. Drew brought in as an “expert,” and yes those air quotes are intentional, on “The Today Show” recently to discuss the book 50 Shades Of Grey. As you may have heard, the explicit, erotic BDSM romance novel about a dominant/submissive relationship has become extremely popular with women across the country — slightly surprising considering how being whipped and spanked is not everyone’s cup of tea. I have not read 50 Shades myself yet, but I’ve read numerous other BDSM novels, short stories, and  true-life tales, and I’ve been in consensual submissive/dominant relationships since the age 18 or 19. So I can say with 110 percent confidence that he does not know what he is talking about and Dr. Drew actually did a huge disservice to women and men when he called the book “actual violence against women.” Keep reading »

If there was ever any doubt about Dr. Drew Pinsky’s legitimacy as a doctor, let this video be proof that we should continue to hold him in the highest esteem! Dr. Drew invited underage bride Courtney Stodden and her old-as-f**k husband, Doug Hutchison, on his show, “Lifechangers,” recently, to defend their pumpkin patch PDA. But while they were there, Courtney also wanted to put some rumors to rest — namely that her enormous breasts are real and not implants. (Courtney is a big proponent of the natural look, as you can see from the buckets of eye shadow, frosted lip gloss, and spray-tanned abs.) So, Dr. Drew pulled out the exam table he has available at all times because he is a doctor, and had an exam conducted on stage. Courtney even wore one of those paper gowns! The verdict: her boobs are real. Case closed! I can’t wait until next week’s pap smear. So educational.

Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison appeared on “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers” yesterday — and let’s just take a moment to acknowledge how far Dr. Drew has fallen by having these two on a show called “Lifechangers” as I’m pretty sure the only life they’ve changed is mine – to discuss “The Pumpkin Patch Fiasco.” For the record, though the moms were complaining and eventually got Daisy Duke-clad Courtney booted because of “the kids” (nice air quotes, Court!), “The dads loved it!” Oh, I’m sure.     Porn star Mary Carey has been trying to clean up her act in Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab on VH1. The lovable blonde cutie has been successfully searching for a way to feel like her sexy self while staying sober. Honest and adorable, Miss Mary has made her way into our heart. Unfortunately, the hanger-on/genetic mutation that is Daniel Baldwin disrespected the lady, sending her dirty texts and pictures of his “manhood” and then harassed her to do the same while in the rehab facility. Worse yet, Daniel Baldwin is married with a baby on the way. Yuck, just thinking about him makes us want to spray some disinfectant! Although, after episode five he left the center to seemingly flee punishment for his actions, but it looks like he finally got what was coming to him. Mary Carey and the pregnant Mrs. Baldwin have been talking on the phone and Daniel was just spotted sporting quite the shiner. Whether the black eye is from his wife, Mary Carey, or any other women he’s insulted, it is well-deserved. So if you see Daniel Baldwin, feel free to do your part.     I’ve had a crush on Dr. Drew Pinsky since I was in high school, growing up in San Diego, where I would have to angle my radio antenna very carefully in order to catch the LA-based radio show Loveline, where Dr. Drew was one of the hosts. The show eventually went on to major success (it’s now heard all over the US) and a short-lived TV show on MTV, but at the time it was just a cult radio show on KROCK in LA. My beloved doctor has gone so mainstream that he’s been profiled in the most recent issue of Rolling Stone, talking about his disgustingly fascinating new show on VH1 Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. So, what really gets my blood going for the forty-something savior of drug addicts, is that he honestly seems to really care. Oh, and he has that totally gorgeous face surrounded by oh so sexy salt and pepper hair. I would totally develop a drug addiction just so I could go to rehab and hang out with this man. Keep reading »
