Dr. Drew Pinsky is utterly clueless about about bondage, dominance, and sadomascochism in relationships and has no business discussing them on national television. That is my conclusion after seeing Dr. Drew brought in as an “expert,” and yes those air quotes are intentional, on “The Today Show” recently to discuss the book 50 Shades Of Grey. As you may have heard, the explicit, erotic BDSM romance novel about a dominant/submissive relationship has become extremely popular with women across the country — slightly surprising considering how being whipped and spanked is not everyone’s cup of tea. I have not read 50 Shades myself yet, but I’ve read numerous other BDSM novels, short stories, and  true-life tales, and I’ve been in consensual submissive/dominant relationships since the age 18 or 19. So I can say with 110 percent confidence that he does not know what he is talking about and Dr. Drew actually did a huge disservice to women and men when he called the book “actual violence against women.” Keep reading »

I simply must commend the wise minds behind “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers” for concluding that Alana, our latest muse from “Toddlers & Tiaras,” was worthy of appearing on a show with such a name. In the episode airing Feb. 2, Alana shares her love of pageants with Dr. Drew, who also gives her Go Go Juice a try. Honey boo-boo child, I cannot wait for this!

Dr. Drew Has A Boatload To Say About Brangelina

“Just add up a couple things. There’s no such thing as ‘I was a heroin addict.’ That doesn’t exist in nature. Something is going on with [her] addiction. Or she’s in recovery. And I don’t see any evidence that’s the case. So we’ve got one person who’s a heroin addict. Which is a chronic lifelong condition, period. We have another person who has said things like, ‘Well, Jennifer [Aniston] was into long-term relationships, that’s just her way of looking at things.’ I mean, that demeaning attitude towards other people’s emotions. Now put those two people together and you have got a really volatile situation. And they’re constantly creating things to weld themselves together. Which is only going to serve to make a more nuclear eruption. There will be some sort of meltdown that will be phenomenal when it does happen.”

Dr. Drew gives his completely random psychological diagnosis of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s relationship based on, I guess, interviews he’s read of theirs. I’m all for passing judgment on famous people, but this assessment seems based on little tidbits of info taken completely out of context. Stick to what you’re good at, Dr. Drew, which is, uh, what again? [Huffington Post via Dlisted] Keep reading »

VH1′s “Sex Rehab” Takes An Unblinking Look At The Sad Lives Of Sex Addicts

If you say the words “sex addiction,” you might get a laugh. The mere thought of someone who is “addicted” to sex is more likely to prompt nervous giggling than nodding compassion. Why? Well, the idea does seem pretty silly — on the surface. Addicted to sex? It sounds more like someone can’t keep their d**k in their pants. The reality of sexual addiction, though, isn’t so funny, not, at least, according to VH1′s new show, “Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew.” Keep reading »

Am I The Only One Who Cannot Wait For Sex Rehab?

No, I’m not checking into sex rehab. I am waiting with bated breath for the premiere of VH1′s “Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew.” Tracking the recovery processes of sort-of-stars addicted to crack, crystal, and booze wasn’t enough for VH1′s hardcore audience, so the shock-reality network is heading into raunchier terrain with a show that takes the same peeping Tom approach to those addicted to sex as they attempt to shake their compulsions. Boning! Who knew it could be so addictive? After the jump, the D-listers who can’t stop humping and have asked for help. Keep reading »
