Lady Gaga Urges Little Monsters To Help Repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

Yes, pop stars can be political. In this video from Lady Gaga, she calls on John McCain and the rest of the Senate to repeal the 1993 “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which prohibits openly gay people from serving in the military. The law gets put to a vote tomorrow, and Gaga is urging her fans to call their senators and encourage them to repeal the law. Girl On Girl: The “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Repeal Has A Long Way To Go

Last week, the House voted 229 to 186 to repeal the controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” military policy, which essentially bans gays and lesbians from coming out while in the armed services. I appreciate this gesture from the House but, to be honest, I’m not really impressed. While this vote gives the illusion of doing something, the actual repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is still a long ways down the road and isn’t, by any means, a sure thing. Keep reading »
