Dolly Parton Refutes Lip Syncing Rumors The Way Only Dolly Can

Dolly Parton Glastonbury
She's still got it!

“My boobs are fake, my hair’s fake, but what is real is my voice and my heart.”

Dolly Parton made her debut at the Glastonbury Music Festival this year, and due to a slight audio/visual delay in her televised performance, viewers (and various news sources) accused her of lip syncing. Dolly set the record straight with this quote in The Sun that will surely go down in history as a perfect summation of Dolly Parton. Oh, and check out her performance of “Jolene” above if you don’t believe her. That gorgeous voice is as real as it gets. [Telegraph]

Life Dream Status: Dolly Parton’s Kitschy, Country LA Home Is For Sale

The real estate gods are tempting me something fierce lately: first Celine Dion’s mega mansion goes up for sale, now Dolly Parton’s Los Angeles home has hit the market. Just one of Dolly’s 15 (!) abodes, the modest, Spanish-style two-bedroom in West Hollywood is just over 1,000 square feet, and decorated in a southwestern, “shabby chic” style. Scrolling through the photos of doilies, cactus-themed artwork, and Yankee Candles, you’d never guess that A) this house belongs to Dolly Fucking Parton and B) that this house is listed for $1.395 million. But hey, that’s the LA real estate market for you. Do I still want to buy it? Of course! I mean, it’s Dolly Fucking Parton’s house. It’s surely imbued with magic that transcends the unfortunate furniture choices. Check out a few more pics after the jump… Keep reading »

Dolly Parton Admits She’s Secretly Tatted Up: “They’re For My Husband”

Dolly Parton Secret Tattoos

“People said the other day that the reason [I] wear sleeves is that [I] have snake tattoos all over you, and I said, ‘No, I don’t.’ I do have a few little tattoos, but they were mostly done to cover scars because I’m so fair. So it started with that, and I’m not really one to have tattoos, but I do have a few and they’re not where you can see them. They’re mostly for my husband.”

–Dolly Parton cleared up those crazy rumors that she’s secretly covered in more ink than a Hell’s Angel on “The Today Show” this week, and it turns out the truth is a little less crazy than the rumor, but still highly entertaining and SO Dolly-esque. Dolly admitted she does have some secret tattoos, but they’re all small and mainly exist for the benefit of her hubby of nearly 50 years, Carl Thomas Dean. Now we can only dream of what that tattoos might be… [Us Weekly]

Watch This: Carrie Underwood’s Epic Cover Of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You”

Carrie Underwood Covers Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You
Daaaaaamn, Girl!

Last night, I went to a benefit concert called, “All For The Hall,” which was put together by Vince Gill and Keith Urban to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame. Reba was there, and Brett Eldredge, Kacey Musgraves, Lee Ann Womack, Ronnie Milsap, Deana Carter, David Nail, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Brantley Gilbert (who, I’m sorry, gives me intense douche chills). It was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to, and all the performances were killer (except for Brantley’s, mostly because I was distracted by his gratuitous wallet chains), but the best moment happened, as it usually does, when Carrie Underwood walked out on stage. “I will not be doing this song any justice, but I’m doing it anyway,” she said lied, before belting out a shockingly beautiful cover of Dolly Parton’s classic, “I Will Always Love You,” backed by Vince and Keith. I posted on Instagram last night that I was stuck permanently in the swooooon position after witnessing this performance, and it’s true. I woke up still swooning. Caution: watching this video might cause you to swoon uncontrollably too. But man, so worth it. [Popdust]

“I think everyone should be with who they love. I don’t want to be controversial or stir up a bunch of trouble but people are going to love who they are going to love. I think gay couples should be allowed to marry. They should suffer just like us heterosexuals. Ha ha ha!”

Oh Dolly Parton, how much do I love thee? So so much. The country superstar told the UK’s Event magazine that while she didn’t know any gay people growing up as a member of a large Pentecostal family in rural Tennessee, she does know of gay family members who will never come out. A shame, as Dolly totally supports gay marriage and would be an amazing gay wedding entertainment, no? [Daily Mail UK[Photo: Getty Images]

Dolly Parton on Miley Cyrus

“If I didn’t know how smart and talented Miley is, I might worry about her. But I’ve watched her grow up. So I don’t. She knows what she’s doing. She was very proud of the work she did as Hannah Montana, but people were gonna leave her there forever. And she was just smotherin’ and chokin’ in it. So she felt she had to do something completely drastic. And she did. She made her point, she made her mark, and more power to her… I’m hoping that now she can relax and show people how talented she really is. ’Cause the girl can write. The girl can sing. The girl is smart. And she doesn’t have to be so drastic. But I will respect her choices. I did it my way, so why can’t she do it her way?”

Dolly Parton, who just happens to be Miley Cyrus godmother (so jealous), gave her take on the pop star’s transformation from tween Disney idol to, well, the Miley we all know and love/hate today for Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People issue. After reading this, I feel like I have a better understanding of Miley and more respect for her as an artist/performer. If anyone else had written it, I’d be like, “Yeah, whatever,” but when Dolly speaks, I reverently light my Dolly Parton prayer candle and honor whatever she says as gospel. [Time via Us Weekly]

Dolly Parton Defends Goddaughter Miley Cyrus: “Nobody Was Going To Let Her Grow Up”

  • Dolly Parton has finally weighed in on Miley Cyrus’ VMAs performance. She happens to think her goddaughter’s performance was fantastic, thank you very much. ”I admire her, I respect her, she’s smart, and she’s so talented,” said Dolly. “And Billy Ray and me will never say nothing bad about Miley ’cause Miley obviously knew what she was doing. She knew she had to go to drastic measures to let people leave her alone, ’cause nobody was going to let her grow up.” Dolly has spoken and so it is decreed.   [Perez Hilton]

Better Just Stick To Country Music — OK, Dolly?
  • Dolly Parton is a goddess who can do no wrong. But, um, this clip of her rapping on “The Queen Latifah Show” wearing a blonde Afro wig is cringe-inducingly awkward. Just stick to country — OK, Dolly? I hope voicing this opinion won’t halt invitations to special Dolly/Latifah girly brunches. [Entertainment Weekly]

Thirteen-year-old John Borgen had dated Rebecca and then dated one of the girls accused of viciously cyberbullying her and telling her to die. John said he had no idea Rebecca was being cyberbullied by the girls, ages 14 and 12. Those girls’ identities are being withheld by police because of their ages. [ABC News]

Dolly Parton Drunk History
"I gotta write a song, because I'm Dolly Parton."

Four of the things in life I love the most: Dolly Parton, Casey Wilson (RIP “Happy Endings”!), country music, and drunk people trying to explain things. Obviously the Nashville episode of “Drunk History,” which delves into Dolly’s tempestuous relationship with Porter Wagoner, is delighting me to no end. Check out this hilarious clip above and watch the whole episode here. [Comedy Central via Jezebel]
