So, Scarily Evil Eyebrows Are In For Spring?

It appears a heavy arch is what’s in vogue for brows, according to Dior. [Paris Fashion Week, 1/26/10] Keep reading »

Hair Model Citizen: Someone Needs A Root Touch-Up

Today at Dior‘s spring 2010 couture collection, John Galliano channeled an exaggerated version of the Gibson Girls (not to be confused with those ladies of the Golden variety). By the look of model Kasia Struss, there was a touch of “Bride Of Frankenstein” thrown in the mix. We can only speculate what the rest of this ‘do looks like, but it definitely goes along with the gray hair trend that’s so hot right now. Getting the white hot mess look–even just streaks–is no easy task though. First, hair needs to be as blond as possible. Then you need to tone the hell out of it with a product like Manic Panic Virgin Snow White Toner Mixer, $13. Maintenance is a beyotch, and don’t come cryin’ to me if your strands feel like dry straw. Good luck with that. But yeah, it can look rad. P.S. If you have succeeded at this hair surgery, please, for the love of God, send us a pic at style@thefrisky.com. [The Guardian] Keep reading »

Beauty Test Drive: DiorLiner Liquid Liner

So, you know how you put on eyeliner in the morning, trying to make it look subtle and work-appropriate, and you’re feeling good about the whole thing until you catch your reflection in the mirror around lunch time and throw up a little? No? Well, it happens when your liner is prone either to smudging below the lash line or obnoxiously transferring to the middle of your lids when you blink. Either way, it’s not cute and countless women fall victim to this problem daily.

In what we can only call a deeply selfless and humanitarian effort, The Frisky staff has been in tireless pursuit of eyeliner that solves this enormous problem. Keep reading »

Beauty Test Drive: Dior Lip Maximizing Gloss

We’re not entirely sure that Dior’s Lip Maximizer gloss actually made our lips look larger, but it did make them look gloriously shiny and leave us with a tingling sensation that we would like to believe meant it was working. The gloss claims that it will help reshape the contours of your lips in 15 days, but we’re a bit skeptical of that claim. They looked a little more luscious (we think…) for a short period of time, but the light pink lip gloss doesn’t strike us as having the stamina to create lasting Angelina Jolie Mouth. That said, $30 is a lot to spend on a lip gloss with dubious plumping abilities. But the color is that perfect mix of sheer and sparkly that won’t leave you looking like a hooker if you wear it during the day, so if you’ve got the money to spend, it’s kind of the perfect wear-it-whenever gloss, and the pretty packaging doesn’t hurt, either. Dior Creates Ridiculously Expensive Cell Phone

Designers branching out into electronics is nothing new. Dolce & Gabbana created their golden Razr and Vivienne Tam collaborated on designing an HP mini computer. Dior must be feeling lonely in the tech world, because their geeky IT moment comes in the form of a cell phone. It’s back to the golden age of flip phones with the brand’s new design, full of silver and sparkles. Unfortunately for your wallet, a Dior cellie is going to cause a major hit to your wallet, in the quantity of about $5,000. It does comes in two parts though: your day to day mobile, and a mini version for those nights on the town when a small clutch is all you need. So Dior. [Grazia] Keep reading »

Beauty Test Drive: Diorshow Iconic Mascara

Generally speaking, I’m happy with my mascara. Fiberwig and I have been through a lot together and it’s remained pretty true, never smudging and leaving me raccoon-eyed when I’m going for smoky-eyed. But every once in a while, you’ve just got to try something new. When I received a bag of Dior goodies to road-test the other day, I knew the time had come to betray the mascara that’s seen me through everything from first dates to weddings. (Other people’s weddings, that is…)

I felt a little dirty at first, as I swiped on the Diorshow Iconic mascara, wand clenched in my sweaty, guilty hand. Then something amazing happened. Keep reading »

Are Gay Designers Responsible For All Of Fashion’s Problems?

It’s hard not to hate Perez Hilton. Dude can be a real d-bag. So, when Jezebel blogger Tracie Egan wrote on her own blog that she’s not nervous about Hilton’s new CocoPerez “lady blog,” we were pretty much in agreement. After all, Jezebel is pretty awesome as far as the feminist blog set goes, and Perez Hilton draws penises on women’s faces. But Egan moved quickly from criticizing Perez for thinking he “gets” women to bitching about gay men in general. According to Egan, gay men are to blame for most of the problems in the fashion industry.

Sneak Preview: Dior Joaillerie’s Skull Bling

Time and death were the inspirations behind Christian Dior‘s latest line of uber-opulent jewelry. Dubbed the “Kings and Queens Collection,” these luxurious accessories, designed by Victoire de Castellane, are crafted from opal, jade, and obsidian. The stones are then sculpted into skulls complete with ornate, blinged out crowns and collars. The garish heads are meant to represent the passing of time and the coming of death, while the sparkling crown and collar remind us to enjoy every moment. This time around, we sort of don’t see what’s so hot about this haute piece. [I strongly disagree. They're gorgeous and I'll take two please! -- Editor] Especially not when the rings, which are meant to be worn two at time, will surely cost a fortune. [D'oh! -- Ed.] We’re assuming this isn’t necessarily in your budget, but in case it is log on to Dior‘s fine jewelry website for details on where to buy — then call us for dinner!
