Mean Mugger Gets Diane von Furstenberg

Splash News

Evidently, there is a Spanish mugger who doesn’t have proper respect for the wrap dress. While she was enjoying a day of museum-hopping in Madrid, Diane von Furstenberg got mugged. “I just got robbed in the street in front of the Thyssen museum ... My wallet, cash and all my credit cards!!” she tweeted. “I am totally fine !! I hope it the worst thing that will happen to me.” At least he didn’t take her phone. Where are the fashion police when you need them? [NY Post]

What Does This Whole “Fashion’s Night Out” Thing Mean Anyway?

Fashion's Night Out

If Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg get their way, there will be no more sale racks to sift through for deals. But it’s a bit more complicated than that, as The Wall Street Journal explains. What is “Fashion’s Night Out”?

vera wang

Vera Wang is reportedly considering an offer to go on the celeb ballroom dancing TV show, “Dancing With The Stars.” Apparently Wang has a background in figure skating, which could give her a leg up in the competition. If Vera doesn’t accept, here are some other fashion designers we’d love to see shake it off the runway.

Where the Girls Aren’t: Vanity Fair’s New Establishment Doesn’t Include Many Women

Vanity Fair Cover

Vanity Fair has posted the latest version of its annual New Establishment list. But, hey! Where are all the women? Out of the 100 moguls, entertainers, and businessfolk who made the list as the top 100 “leaders of the information age,” just how many are women? A whopping nine. Who are they, you ask? Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, Arianna Huffington, Miuccia Prada,  Diane Sawyer, Anna Wintour, Annette de la Renta, Donatella Versace, and Diane Von Furstenberg. So, what have we learned? If you’re a woman who wants to be considered a player in the New Media era by the media, you better be an entertainer, work in fashion, or have really, really great hair.

Fashion Week: Herve Leger, DVF, DKNY

Herve Leger, DVF, DKNY

So many fashion shows, so little time. This weekend there were even more runway runaways, with everyone from Diane Von Furstenberg (one of our overall favorites—I am even wearing a thrifted dress of hers today) to William Rast (that’s Justin Timberlake’s clothing line) showing in NYC. After the jump, are some of our favorite looks from Herve Leger (known for his bandage-style dresses), DVF, and Donna Karan’s sportswear line, DKNY.

Project Runway: No More Leathuh!

Project Runway Worst Looks
Looks We Hated: [From Left to Right] Suede’s Mismatched Camo and Tweed; Stella’s Magician’s Assistant Look; Joe’s Shanghai Flop

Last night’s episode of Project Runway was one of the best yet because the designers were challenged to create a look to add to Diane Von Furstenburg’s Fall collection, which was inspired by Marlene Dietrich in A Foreign Affair.  Yes, Diane Von Frickin’ Furstenberg took time away from her fashion empire to not only meet the designers, but also judge the runway competition. She also let the designers use her own fabrics to create the outfit. Since Diane has a longstanding partnership with American Express, the winning outfit will be sold exclusively to American Express customers.
