Quotable: Julie Benz Is Still Mourning The Death Of Her Fictional Character

Showtime

“My first reaction was, ‘You’re killing the mother of the show! You’re killing the woman who’s suffered more violence than anybody!’ She suffered more violence than Dexter ever suffered. Dexter witnessed the death of his mother, but he didn’t suffer any physical violence. Rita was beaten and raped by an ex-husband on a regular basis, and yet she still has this innocence and sweetness about her.”

—Actress Julie Benz on her initial reaction to finding out that Rita, the character she played on “Dexter,” would be killed off in the show’s season four finale, which aired last Sunday. [E! Online]

“Dexter” Season Finale: Holy $%&@, WTF?!

Dexter Season Four Finale Recap

After the jump, join me in expressing my total shock over the season four finale of “Dexter,” which aired last night on Showtime. There will be lots of spoilers, so if you haven’t watched the episode yet (what is wrong with you?!), don’t click any deeper. Seriously, this was one episode you do not want spoiled.

6 Hookups We’d Like To See On TV Next Season

6 Hookups We'd Like To See On TV Next Season

“Dexter” Hookup: Detective Debra Morgan and Detective Joey Quinn

This season, Dexter’s cop sister traded in her once-steamy relationship with Antoine for a second go-at-it with aging Agent Frank Lundy. But when both Debra and Lundy were shot by a still-unknown assailant, the potty-mouthed detective had to stare into the eyes of the man she loved as he died. It was sad. For, like, a second. It’s time for Deb to quit the mourning and realize that she’s got the perfect rebound material in her partner, hot-headed Detective Quinn.

He’s been hot on the trail of the person who shot her and Lundy, and despite a lapse in judgment in the form of an affair with that nosy reporter, I think he’s the perfect person to nurse Deb’s broken heart. Plus, he looks like he’d be a freak in the sack.

Gallery: Celebrities Who Play Family Onscreen, And Then Make Out Off Screen

Evan Rachel Wood and Shane West

On-screen couples often morph into real-life celebrity pairings. There’s Penn Badgley and Blake Lively of “Gossip Girl,” Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt post “Mr. And Mrs. Smith,” and of course Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Well, maybe.

But it kinda grosses me out when actors play relatives onscreen, and then end up getting down and dirty behind the scenes. Case in point, Evan Rachel Wood & Shane West who’ve been spotted holding hands and getting cozy together all around town. Ew, they were on-screen siblings on the TV show “Once and Again.” [Dlisted]

Dexter Married His Sister!

Michael C. Hall Married Jennifer Carpenter

How awkwardly awesome. Michael C. Hall married Jennifer Carpenter in a secret ceremony on New Year’s Eve. Hall plays the title character on “Dexter” and Carpenter plays his sister. They’ll be walking the red carpet together, as man and wife, on Sunday’s Golden Globes. [DListed]

The Boob Tube: What’s On TV This Weekend

The Boob Tube

The weekend is the perfect time to catch up on all the TV you’ve missed. Bravo will air marathons of “Project Runway” and “Rachel Zoe Project” just in time for the season finales next week. I’ll watch “Clean House: The Messiest Home in the Country” on Saturday to make myself feel less guilty about cleaning my own home. (I’m not really messy anyway.) Sunday continues to be the best for primetime viewing, especially the 10 o’clock hour.

The Boob Tube: What’s On TV This Weekend

The Boob Tube: What's On TV This Weekend: TV Schedule Sept. 27-28

Saturday is definitely the day to watch some of your favorite movies, like The Godfather and Purple Rain, but you can also catch up on the first season of “Dirty Sexy Money,” since the second season starts on October 1. You can also catch a replay of the “Heroes” season premiere on Saturday night. And remember, ABC’s fall shows premiere on Sunday as well as “Dexter” and “Californication” on Showtime. Sweet mother of god, there is some good stuff on TV this weekend. So much for outdoor activities. [TV Guide]

Fall TV: Returning Primetime Hotties

Gale Harold

For the last few weeks, and up until this Sunday, it’s been a big time for TV addicts—so many shows are back! And with them comes the hot dudes that make the shows worth watching (well, in addition to awesome stories, great acting, etcetera). After the jump, 10 TV actors we’re so psyched to have back in our lives, including John Krasinski (“The Office” returns tomorrow night!) and Gale Harold, a new addition to “Desperate Housewives” (premiering this Sunday) whom we’ve loved since “Queer As Folk”.
