Jake Gyllenhaal And His Beard Cover Details Magazine

Dude. Dude. I am really, really into Jake Gyllenhaal’s Paul Bunyon-inspired wooliness on the cover of Details’ September issue. Let’s go chop some wood, if you know what I mean… Anyway, the actor has a decidedly more manly look and vibe to him in both the magazine’s photos and interview, in which he talks a lot about his approach to acting. He’s got two films coming out — “End of Watch” and “An Enemy” — which required him to play vastly different characters, both physically and mentally. The former, a bulked up cop, and the second, a nerdy history professor (hence, the beard?). Sounds like the perfection combination, if you ask me. Check out some more photos above, and read the interview at the link! [Details]

Sam Worthington Is Not A Plumber

Oh, celebrity profiles. They’re so absurd! The writer gets not-enough minutes with The Big Star, out of which s/he must generate enough words to support however many advertising pages the magazine has sold that month. What a chore. And this is how we get totally ridiculous celebrity profiles in which people say things that make no sense. In the new Details cover story on Sam Worthington by Jonathan Miles, Miles feels compelled to point out that Worthington is like a plumber. Which is supposed to make some kind of a point. Although, what that point is or how it illuminates Worthington remains unclear. In any case, you’re probably better off just looking at the pictures. Highlights from the attendant word-drivel after the jump. Keep reading »

Details Straightens Out Adam Lambert

So … when Hollywood starlets want to be provocative, they lez out in photoshoots. And apparently, when gay men want to be provocative they tongue female models? Color us confused by this Details cover shoot featuring “American Idol” runner-up, Adam Lambert. Lambert is an out-and-proud gay man, but tells the mag, “…I like kissing women sometimes. Women are pretty. It doesn’t mean I’m necessarily sleeping with them.” Personally, I wouldn’t have minded a shot or two of Glambert frenching his hot boyfriend, but then again, I sometimes like gay dude porn. So what do you think of this racy shoot? Sexy or cheap? Check out one more shot, after the jump. [Details] Keep reading »

Quote Of The Day: James McAvoy Doesn’t Like That Kelis Song

“I saw a clip of something – this girl has on a humongous fat suit and she’s singing that ‘my milk shake brings all the boys to the yard’ song, and I just felt like, ‘That’s so disrespectful.’ I would not want to be a woman in this industry. Horrible.” — James McAvoy Keep reading »

Frisky Quote Of The Day: Ashton Kutcher on losing his virginity

“I was 15. It was out in the woods with a girl I had just met who my buddy set me up with. The whole thing lasted two seconds. It was really awkward. Two years later I had sex with her again just to show her the first performance was a fluke and I’d gotten better.” — Ashton Kutcher, on his first time, in the May 2008 issue of Details. We’ve been there too, Kutch. Keep reading »

Puritan Pop Stars

Over a decade after Britney claimed she was saving herself for marriage, the Jonas Brothers, a popular teeny-bopper boy band, have decided to take a vow of celibacy too. The trio of short, dark, and handsome teens told Details Magazine that they even bought rings to commemorate their commitment to chastity from Disney World and Tiffany’s. (How punk rock!) Although it’s not actually working as kryptonite for their hordes of screaming girl groupies, the Christian rockers turned pop stars, who are now owned by Disney, want to stay shining examples of purity. Their tour director, Rob Brenner, who had worked with Spears, sees abstinence as a way to keep the boys focused and grounded, while avoiding the pitfalls (i.e. drugs, pregnancy, general craziness) of other stars who make it big when they’re young.
