Theory: Khloe Kardashian is a messy eater and frequently drops food on her lap, so she bought these jeans with GAPING HOLES between her kneecaps and upper thighs, aka the spill zone, so they wouldn’t stain. If you have the same problem, you can buy a similar pair from Urban Outfitters. This egregiously destroyed denim trend is worthless otherwise. [Photo: INFDaily]
I have never been a huge fan of denim on denim, but Zendaya Coleman is working it. By keeping the blues uniform, she creates the illusion of a jumpsuit. The high rise fitted skimmers meet the jacket at the natural waist, elongating and flattering her legs. The slightly faded denim cuffed at the ankles and wrists expose simple accessories, and her orange-red lips and turquoise pumps provide a much needed pop of color. If you dare to do denim-on-denim, get the look after the jump! Keep reading »
Boyfriend jeans, wrote a song about it. Like to hear it? Here it go.
Free your leeeeeeggggggs / and the waist will follow / loose and tattered / you done been swallowed / free your leeeeeeegggggggs / and the knees will follow / holes are shredded / no need to wallow.
That’s as far as I got with my boyfriend jeans song, sung to the tune of En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind.” The point being, put on a pair of boyfriend jeans, especially after months and months of skinny jeans, and your stems will be singing a new tune. Comfy, loose, sometimes-shredded, paired with everything from sky-high heels to sneakers, boyfriend jeans are much more versatile than you might think. When I was a preteen, I made a purse out of an old pair of jeans and thought I was just too cool. Artist Ian Berry took things a big step further, using denim as a medium to make beautiful “paintings.” In a report by the BBC, Berry shows off his art. The designs look almost as if they’re paintings, but are made solely of jeans. Berry has exhibited his work worldwide, and was even commissioned by Giorgio Armani. Mind. Blown. [BBC]
Denim is perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. How do I know? I’ve got a denim jacket on right now — mostly to stave off the ridiculously cold air conditioning in The Frisky’s bizarrely tempered offices.
This is really my first foray into denim jackets in a long while, mostly because I’ve been unable to find something I really, really like — a jacket that’s not too heavy or cumbersome, but one that’s not just super lightweight cotton, either.
All this jacket shopping got me thinking about how difficult it can be to find something you like and can actually afford. That’s why I’ve searched hard and found some great pieces at both higher price points and in more affordable ranges — proof that you can find something cool no matter your budget.

A denim skirt is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you’ll ever own. Wear it with flip-flops and a T-shirt to the grocery store, or dress it up with heels and a pretty blouse for a night out. Dark denim pencil skirts totally work at casual offices, while a light wash denim mini looks great with a bikini top at the beach. Wear any denim skirt year round by adding textured tights, boots, and a chunky sweater. I could go on, but you get the idea, right?
