I recently got engaged to my boyfriend of seven years. We don’t have any kids together but he has a daughter who is ten years old and lives with his ex-wife in a different state. My boyfriend and I are temporarily living in different states while I attend law school. I’ve always considered myself a very independent woman but for the last two years, I’ve been very dependent on him financially as he is supporting us both while I’m in school. Several weeks ago, right after he proposed, I dreamed I was on a large law school campus. It was a prestigious law school that I didn’t get accepted to. I was in a rush to get to class. I kept cutting through lanes to find a shortcut for a parking spot but the route I chose took longer. Finally, I found a parking spot but it was still far from the building my class was taking place in. I had my boyfriend’s daughter and her baby brother with me (the child of my fiancé’s ex and her new husband).
Last night I had a bizarre dream. In the dream I was a vampire. I was hanging out in this dark mansion at night with a bunch of other people, none of whom I recognize from waking life. I was the only vampire, but it seemed as if there were two of me; one that was watching from a removed point of view, and the other that was a twelve-year-old child vampire. This child was quite charming, and everyone liked her, even though she was a vampire. As I watched, she began to stalk a boy (similar in age to her), and when she got him alone she ate all of his skin off. He remained alive, but skinless and bloody. She then barfed all of his blood back onto him, and ate it again. She started stalking other people in the same manner, only attacking when they were alone. She had a voracious appetite. I thought I should warn her that this behavior might not be acceptable to the others, but she ate my skin off and, as I was sitting there a gooey mess, patiently convinced me that she was serving some higher purpose, some higher good. All the time I recognized that she was a projection of myself–I was both she and I at the same time. Later, everyone sat down to have a conference, during which she explained her plan, and I defended it. Nobody was convinced, and this began a heated argument, at which point I woke up. Any insight? – Skinless
I had a crazy dream last night. I was at the top of a construction crane — the ones they use for high rises. I should mention that I am an architect by profession. The crane was yellow and I was at the very top of it holding on like someone holds on to a ladder and I was looking down at everything below. The crane was moving in a circle, which really put me off balance. I wanted to get down, but I was paralyzed with fear of falling, as this thing spun around slowly in a circle over the buildings below. I looked down at the crane operator, and he smiled and waved. I said, “I’m sorry! I just climbed up here to have a look.” He gave me a thumb’s up. He wasn’t worried about me at all. He trusted that I knew what I was doing as he spun this thing around. I finally started to climb down like a ladder and I met two other guys. They were also hanging on ladder-style. At one point, an elevator the size of a small phone booth rushed by, and the other guy holding on moves his hands just as it passes so it doesn’t knock him down. And I’m thinking, “Man! These guys do this all day, and they don’t get tired and they have no safety harness…..that’s pretty amazing.” So I’m shooting the breeze with them, but I really want to talk about how I’d love to find a way to get that elevator to come by, so I can get in and get down. But there was a feeling of not letting go of the rungs, to grab the other rungs to get down and just being a bit frozen like a cat in a tree hanging on. Any thoughts? – Hanging On for Dear Life
“I’ve had a couple of dreams lately where at some point in my dream I become aware that I am dreaming. I don’t wake up, but I actually feel awake and can control my thoughts as I do when I’m awake. For example, I’ve had a reoccurring dream where I am in my childhood bedroom (I haven’t lived there for 20 years) and I see myself sleeping on the bed and the room looks exactly the way it did when I was 8. I see the ceiling fan above me and I look down and notice that I am asleep on the bed. Then I tell myself that I am dreaming and I that I can fly because it’s just a dream. And then I float up really easily toward the ceiling and enjoy my flight. What does this mean? It’s weirding me out.” – Wide Awake Fast Asleep Continue reading
“My ex and I have been broken up for nearly a month, but I continue to have reoccurring dreams about him. In all of them he is trying to murder me. I’ve lost track of the number I’ve had, but they all involve him, a knife, and me waking up in complete terror. The first one actually occurred shortly before we broke up after he had informed me that he no longer knew if he was in love in me. In all of them he has made a point of laughing each time he stabs me. It’s reaching the point where I’m trying to avoid sleeping just because I don’t want to wake up screaming. Can you tell me what’s causing these and if I can expect them to stop soon? – Sleep Deprived Continue reading
“I had this really weird dream the other night about having a baby. I’d already given birth and the baby was with a group of other babies who were being given up by their mothers for whatever reasons. I didn’t recognize mine at first and started playing with another one. Then I realized it didn’t look like me and went over to the baby that I was sure was mine. I had decided to give the baby up for adoption because I knew I was in no place to have a baby right now — I’m 20 years old, in college, and single — but the more I played with it the more I didn’t want to let it go. I started breast-feeding it at one point, but I tried to do it covertly because I was afraid that I wasn’t allowed to feed it seeing as how it wasn’t really mine anymore. I knew in my dream that I couldn’t keep the baby but I kept going to visit it and hoping that no one would adopt it.
A few months earlier I had a similar dream. I realized I was seven months pregnant and got scared that I hadn’t felt the baby kick yet. Then immediately it started moving around. Someone stole it from me when I was about to give birth and I was on this mission to get it back. I was on the run at the time because the people who had stolen it were also after me. I woke up before I found it. What gives in these dreams?” – Too Young to be a Mother Continue reading
