An ’80s Teen Slow Jam–Featuring Kelly Ripa!

Guys, it’s important that we all have somebody by our side that we can count on. That’s the message of this ’80s hit by Corey Hart, titled “By Your Side,” that was featured on a local Philadelphia dance show. While it’s clear that many of the ladies on the show (and gentlemen) actually count on copious amounts of hair spray and Dep gel, they also count on their moms and dads — and each other. Watch out for an early shot of pre-Regis Kelly Ripa, and stick around to check out the best couple of the night, Toni and Pisces, who is wearing really fly sunglasses while dancing with his special lady. Happy Hump Day: A Dancing Whale!

Olé! This beluga whale shakes a dorsal fin during an impromptu mariachi serenade at the Mystic Marinelife Aquarium in Connecticut. Is anybody else wondering why there is a mariachi group performing at an aquarium? Oh well, it doesn’t really matter. Enjoy the dancing whale. [The Daily What] Keep reading »

Jennifer Lopez’s First Gig Was Back-Up Dancing For New Kids On The Block

Last night, Jennifer Lopez sat down for an interview with Jay Leno and he asked her about her first dance gig. “I got a job working as a back-up dancer for New Kids on the Block,” she said. “It was dancing for them on the American Music Awards and it was a big deal. That was a long time ago.” Jay then informed her that the exact year was 1991 and that he had the video footage ready to roll. Above, check out Jennifer hanging tough with the guys. Keep reading »

Heather Morris’ School Of Dance

Heather Morris, aka Brittany S. Pierce, has quickly become our favorite Gleek thanks to her awesome one-liners and killer dance moves. So when I saw that Esquire had posted a video called “How To Dance With Heather Morris,” I got kind of excited. I was picturing “Darrin’s Dance Groove” from back in the ’90s, thinking I’d get some of Heather’s patented “Single Ladies” dance steps broken down move-by-move. Instead, I got the above video of Heather shaking her groove thang in a skimpy leotard and teased-to-there hair. Hot, sure? But helpful, not so much. I think I’ll skip the humping the floor move for now. Keep reading »

GIF Of The Day: Rob Lowe Dances On “Parks & Recreation”

Rob Lowe always seemed like a stuffed shirt nowadays to me — a hot stuffed shirt, mind you — based on his buttoned up roles on “The West Wing” and “Brothers & Sisters.” It turns out the guy can bust a move and he did so Thursday night on “Parks & Recreation.” NYmag.com’s Vulture blog aptly calls it “seizure in a club”! Maybe Rob learned how to dance like this from his days hanging out with Charlie Sheen? [NYmag.com] Keep reading »

This Puppy’s Got Moves

A Shoe Habit To Put Ours To Shame

Women often get a bad rap for being shoe obsessed, but most women I know have nothing on the men of the Mexican town of Matehuala. The men and boys in Matehuala have been busy trying to outdo themselves with more elaborate and outlandish shoes–like the oversized elfish cowboy boots shown above. Styles and trends change rapidly, and the guys struggle to keep up with one another’s shoe habits. They wear the boots to guachero dance contests, but they also hold contests for the longest and most elaborate boots. [Vice] Keep reading »

I Wanna Dance With This Guy

You know what always puts a smile on my face? Someone dancing like nobody is watching. Like this older gentleman (and his lady dance partner) totally getting down to a live band performing “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” I love that he’s actually acting out all of the lyrics. Oh! And the way he just uses all of the dance space possible during the chorus. Even the way he runs his hands over his combover is elegant. You go on with your bad self, mister! [EW] Keep reading »

If The Game And 50 Cent Had A Hoedown

I couldn’t resist this funny dance/hip-hop mashup. I don’t know what this kind of dancing is called but I need to learn it NOW. Could it be the precursor to breakdancing? [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Man “Double Dream Hands” His Way To Dance Magic

What do you get when you combine Gary Busey and elaborate Broadway musical dance numbers? This guy. John Jacobson runs an elementary music education magazine called Music Express Magazine. He’s also the author of the song “Planet Rock,” which can be heard on this video. Jacobson wanted to leave nothing to chance, so he developed a choreographed routine to go along with the song–featuring his signature move, Double Dream Hands. Live the dream, John Jacobson, live the dream. [Urlesque] Keep reading »
