Who We’re Rooting For On “Dancing With The Stars”

Dancing with the Stars” is so cheesy that it often makes me want to scream. What’s up with the lame music picks? And the judges with their paddle scores? And Brooke Burke’s overly Botoxed face asking ridiculous questions backstage? And yet, I watch. Why? Because seeing B- and C-listers dance—often awkwardly—is just blissful. After last night’s premiere episode, I have picked my favorites for the season. And here they are, starting with Pamela Anderson. I was worried about her when she said, “I have no rhythm. And I’m tone deaf.” But she managed to get it together for her performance. “I can only think of sex, sex, and more sex,” Judge Bruno yelled grossly after her performance. “Striperella is back home. Do it to me, girl.” Uh, go take a cold shower, dude.

After the jump, performances from my other faves. Keep reading »

“Bachelor” Jake Makes His “Dancing With The Stars” Debut In A Pink Bow Tie

The 10th season of “Dancing With the Stars” premiered last night with its “most talked-about cast in history,” including “Bachelor” Jake Pavelka, because I guess ABC figures we didn’t get enough of the cheesy piece of milquetoast already. Jake began the season by presenting his dance partner, saucy blonde Chelsie Hightower, with a rose because “that’s how he starts every great relationship” (ooh, Vienna’s gonna be jealous!) and then he danced the Vienna, I mean Viennese Waltz, in a pink bow tie. Oh yes, a pink bow tie. Ladies, you thought the mock turtleneck was bad? I have a feeling we haven’t seen anything yet. Insert obligatory joke here about fastening your seatbelts because this season of “DWTS” is going to be a bumpy ride. (But I guess that joke only works if Jake is still a pilot, and when do you imagine was the last time he actually flew a plane? He’s been too busy passing out roses and perfecting his two-step). Quotable: Evan Lysacek Will Tan For “DWTS”

“Spray tans! I usually don’t like to have them because I don’t like the smell of it, but I have had it before. Spray me up, baby! I’m going full-force on this show. I’m not going to hold anything back.”

Quotable: Don’t Count Out Buzz Aldrin On “Dancing With The Stars”

“Walking on the moon was a piece of cake. This is a challenge! I’ve probably neglected my Lightfoot Louie on the dance floor, but I always have a lot to learn. I didn’t take up skiing until I was 50 … I come from strong Swedish stock and have been pretty good shape for a while. I walk pretty fast in the airport.”

Now that she’s appearing on “Dancing With The Stars,” Kate Gosselin has ditched that iconic ‘do of hers for a Farrah-esque new weave. But will the hair stay on while Kate is whipping around the dance floor? Inquiring minds want to know. [3/4/10, NYC] Keep reading »

A Look At The “Dancing With The Stars” Playing Field

We thought we’d gone to tabloid heaven when we heard about the ultra juicy cast of season 10 of “Dancing With The Stars.” Kate Gosselin! Pam Anderson! Jake Pavelka! Buzz Aldrin?!? After the jump, we’ve given the odds for each contestant winning bragging rights and the disco ball trophy.

“Dancing With The Stars” Season 10 Cast Announced!

And it features a who’s who of the most tabloid-y celebs EVER! Last night, towards the tail end of “The Bachelor” season finale (refer to the liveblog if you want the play-by-play), Tom Bergeron and former “Bachelor”/”DWTS” contestant Melissa Rycroft announced who would be shimmying when the show returns Mar. 22. Kate Gosselin! Pamela Anderson! That ESPN sportscaster who got peeped on in the nude (Erin Andrews)! That old guy from NASA (Buzz Aldrin)! Some football meathead with numbers in Spanish as his last name (Chad Ochocinco)! Plus, Evan Lysacek, Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh, y’all!), Niecy Nash, Nicole Scherzinger (from the Pussycat Dolls), Aiden Turner (some hot soap star), and, the final BIG ANNOUNCEMENT of the evening, “The Bachelor”‘s own Jake Pavelka. Seriously, I loathe “DWTS,” but even I may watch this season to see Pamela pop out of one of her costumes, Vienna sitting front row, and what they do to glam up Kate Gosselin’s hair. My early favorite to win? Evan Lysacek obviously. [EW] Keep reading »

Pamela Anderson May Be On “Dancing With The Stars”

Amazing rumor alert! The word on the street is that Pamela Anderson has signed on for the next season of “Dancing with the Stars.” According to a source, “Pam is thrilled and so is the show. She really wanted to do the show and the show thought it was a great idea.” Sadly, because ABC is super tight-lipped about the show’s cast, we’ll have to wait until Mar. 1 to find out for sure. But here’s hoping this season’s cast will top the amazingness that was Lil’ Kim, Steve Wozniak, and Jewel in early 2009. Also, can you image the spectacle of those boobs swathed in sequins? Donny Osmond Wins “Dancing With The Stars”

Who would you expect to win a dancing competition—the 51-year-old teen idol who drove the ladies crazy in the ’70s, the 30-year-old chantuese behind “Ghetto Superstar,” or the 25-year-old newly svelte rock princess? Well, surprise! Donny Osmond has upset Mya and Kelly Osbourne on “Dancing with the Stars” and earned the right to take home the mirrored disco ball trophy. We’re thrilled; largely because we just didn’t see it coming. Nor did his sister, Marie, who should have been all about Team Donny after her less successful turn on the show in 2007 that included a collapse on camera. But while she gave Donny a makeup bag for good luck, she said that Mya was the most talented finalist. “A little bit country” that.

After the jump, a look at Donny’s best moves on the dance floor. Keep reading »

Oink, Oink: A “Dancing With The Stars” Swine Flu Outbreak

Swine flu is now officially the enemy of everything that is good. First it infected Rupert Grint and The Backstreet Boys. Now, there’s been an outbreak of H1N1 on the set of (gasp in horror) “Dancing with the Stars.” First, dancer Derek Hough got it. “I was sicker than a dog,” he said, divulging that his fever reached 105 degrees. “My whole bed was drenched because I sweated so much. I had to sleep in the bathtub. I’ve been sick a thousand times but something was different about this—I literally couldn’t walk or move.” Next, he passed it on to fellow dancer Mark Ballas, who wore a mask to keep from spreading his germs to partner Melissa Joan Hart. Others in the cast are trying their best not to pick it up. “I’m living off of Emergen-C right now,” said Lacey Schwimmer. Ditto for Aaron Carter. “I’m a hypochondriac—I hate, hate getting sick. I use hand sanitizer every five seconds,” he said. Please, swine flu, leave our dancing reality television alone and go pick on someone your own size. [CNN] Keep reading »
