Ice skating has never been my favorite activity. See: me clinging to the side wall for dear life during every ice skating birthday party I went to as a kid. But ABC’s newest show, “Skating with the Stars,” is seriously upping the ante on “Dancing with the Stars
” by taking C-listers and having them strap on skates, to not only learn how to dance on ice, but also to do lifts, spins, jumps, and other Olympic-caliber moves. We are expecting some hard spills, nasty bruises, and probably a few broken bones.
Last night, ABC announced the cast for this new series. Find out who they are, after the jump! Keep reading »
Last night’s “Dancing with the Stars” brought a very special surprise. Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas dancing in monkey suits while doing the jive to the theme song from my favorite old TV show, “The Monkees.” See the girl monkey who can’t quite keep up? Yeah, that’s Bristol. I wonder if Sarah Palin watched the performance and felt like she was back in Alaska, watching grizzly bears fight? [Newser] Keep reading »
So, sue us, we are watching this week’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars
” a little late. But we just had to bring you this clip of Bristol Palin
getting sexy while rumba-ing with Mark Ballas to “Umbrella.” Her dancing was totally stiff, but that hip shimmy move wasn’t bad. And the faux making out was kind of hot. Do we think Sarah Palin
, who was in the audience, liked Bristol’s warp-speed shirt pull-off maneuver? We bet she’ll be using that on Todd when she gets home.
The Situation seemed a touch more comfortable getting his sexy on. Or, err, standing in place while his partner danced around him. Keep reading »
“They wanted Todd to be on the show. I think that would have been cool to see, too. But here Bristol is… doing something all new … [If I were on the show], they would have to let me dribble back and forth and maybe pivot and do a jump shot or something as part of the routine. In fact, when Bristol said, ‘I don’t know how to dance,’ I told her, just think of it as learning some basketball plays.”
—Sarah Palin lets it slip that “Dancing with the Stars” originally wanted Todd Palin for the show before they set their sights on Bristol. And she also shares the dancing advice she gave her daughter. I guess mommy doesn’t know best. [NY Daily News] Keep reading »
Last night, Sarah Palin
dropped by to watch the live filming of “Dancing with the Stars
,” sitting in the front row. But apparently, several members of the audience could not contain their lack of excitement and booed her as she took her seat. The boos could be heard in the telecast—they happened before Sarah appeared onscreen and while Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough were doing their post-dance interview. The two thought the boos were for them and looked confused since their quickstep was pretty great. A minute later, Sarah appeared to the folks at home for this interview, which reveals that she’s rooting for “Bristol the Pistol
.” Sarah also seems to have coined a new word: Zawesome. Totally taking that one. Keep reading »
Bristol Palin‘s “Dancing with the Stars” partner, Mark Ballas, made the trek to Alaska this weekend to meet the Palins, check out the frozen scenery, and play an acoustic guitar set at a bar called Rumrunners. He posted the pics above on his Twitter page captioned, “Me and my gorgeous partner Bristol … Me and Mama Palin.” Yep, that should curb rumors that these two are dating. Former “Dancing With The Stars” contestant Kelly Osbourne knows whom she is rooting for on season 11. Kelly says that her vote is going to Bristol Palin, for her bravery. “I have a real soft spot for Bristol Palin,” said Kelly. “I really do. I think she’s going out there and trying, and to not have a family member in the audience is the hardest thing in the world.” Let’s hope Mama Palin can make it to some of the performances, because I am sure this beats any kind of elementary school dance recital. [People]
Kelly Osbourne isn’t the only one to weigh in. After the jump, other celebrities who’ve thrown their support behind one of the dancers. Keep reading »
Last night, David Hasselhoff was the first C-lister voted off “Dancing with the Stars.” What?!?! With those hip thrusts and that jacket toss? Above, see the “Sex Bomb” cha cha that got David eliminated. After hearing that he was out, David said, “It’s been a great ride. I feel bad for Kym because she worked so hard to try and get me where I was going. I’m just so proud that my daughters are here and got to see me go this far.” We’re sure they’re proud, too. Kind of. Last night was the season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” and one of the biggest surprises of the night was that Bristol Palin, “teen activist,” wasn’t the most horrible dancer. Sure, she was awkward and a little stiff and definitely shy, but she showed bursts of potential throughout her minute-plus routine, and even, dare I say it, a tiny little dash of sex appeal. Could Bristol actually be a real threat in the competition? If so, let’s hope Mama Palin doesn’t confuse this dark horse for a caribou in a fringe mini.
