The Most Popular Kids At Hollywood High!

Last week, 15-year-old Dakota Fanning was crowned the Homecoming Princess of Crespi Carmelite High School after cheering at the game with the other Viking cheerleaders. This is weird for a couple of reasons: because she goes to an actual high school and because she is still only 15. Also, isn’t she too busy being a badass Volturi to be a cheerleader? And aren’t teenagers supposed to resent her for her success? Plus, aren’t they generally called “Homecoming Queens”?

Most celebrities at least claim they were outcasts in high school. Having been a drama geek, I can confirm that this is likely true. But I guess not every path to stardom is paved with struggle. Here are some celebrities who were beloved from day one. [Just Jared] Keep reading »

“New Moon”‘s Voluri Revealed!

Don’t pee yourself, Twilight fans. Check out these just-released posters of Volturi vampires “Jane” (Dakota Fanning looking RAD), “Caius” (Jamie Campbell Bower), and “Alec” (Cameron Bright). This is not saying much, because “Twilight” (the movie) was cheesy as hell (not that I didn’t see it twice), but “New Moon” looks like it might just rule. Keep reading »

Dakota Fanning Plays Dress-Up For T Magazine

The fall fashion issue of the New York Times’ T Magazine boasts a stunning spread of 15-year-old Dakota Fanning. Dressed in nude, brown, and cream colors, the star’s monochromatic style is super luxe and features Dior, Lanvin, and Chanel. The actress attends private school, is a cheerleader, and has an obsession with Marni platforms. While she may be growing up into a highbrow celeb, she’s still an adolescent: “[She's] pleased to exercise the prerogative that states that for a period in one’s life, a particular pair of shoes—or a bag or a boy, for that matter—can be perfect in every respect and should be worn (or phoned) every day.” Of course, if we had a closet full of Marni pumps, we’d be wearing them every day with as much youthful zeal. Hollywood’s Newest, Youngest A-List Couple

Camilla Belle dumped Joe Jonas, causing him to cry? Sorry, but I don’t really care. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are still dating? Whatever. Normally, I try to ignore stories about teen stars’ relationships, but reports of a dinner date with two child stars is making me say, Aww. Dakota Fanning, 15, and Freddie Highmore, 17, reportedly went out to eat together in Beverly Hills over the weekend. The reason I think this is so cute is because they come across more like actual actors who are class acts, and less like Disney brands custom-designed for the tween set. Hopefully, their young love won’t get sabotaged by paparazzi and the tabloids. We don’t need to see photos of them making out. Both Dakota and Freddie look about three years younger than their actual ages, and we aren’t pedophiles. [E! Online] Keep reading »

Quick Pic: Someone Get Dakota Fanning A Tampon

Actually, I think this is fake blood, probably for a scene in the movie she’s filming, “The Runaways.” Maybe there is some pivotal moment in Cherie Currie’s life where she gets her period suddenly and it impacts Joan Jett’s band forever. [Los Angeles, 6/23/09] Keep reading »

Who Will Be The Next Kate Moss?

Today, the Daily Mail U.K. asks, “Is Emma Watson the new Kate Moss?” Hold up a minute there! That’s a pretty heavy crown to even think about bestowing. After all, the person to take Kate Moss’s place has some big shoes to fill. It must be someone who has staying power, room for supreme f**k-ups, the ability to rebound, and be a trendsetter for life. Clearly, Watson is a fine contender, having already started in Kate’s Burberry footprints. Yet, we’d like to put some other ladies in the running for becoming fashion’s holy grail. (This could be a great celeb reality contest.) Keep reading »

An Open Letter To Dakota Fanning

So, we love you. The adoration campaign began way back when you played the Reese Witherspoon mini-me in “Sweet Home Alabama.” Now that you’re 15 and all growns up (by the way, the smile looks great—we know, the braces phase is never fun), we wanted to pass along a few bits of advice on how to survive the scene that is Young Hollywood. Mostly, it’s easy: See what Lindsay Lohan is up to? Do the exact opposite, always. Oh and a few more tips… Keep reading »

90210 Threatens To Take Over Twilight Sequel

AnnaLynne McCord, Naomi Clark on “90210,” may be cast in “New Moon,” the “Twilight” sequel. Filmmakers are considering her for Heidi, a “fisher” who brings humans to the Volturi vampires to consume. McCord’s “90210″ co-star Kellan Lutz will reprise his Emmett Cullen role, as well. Too bad Heidi and Emmett don’t have any romantic scenes together. Maybe then we’d know definitively whether McCord and Lutz are dating. Dakota Fanning is in talks to play Jane, a member of the Volturi family. Unlike McCord, Fanning didn’t even have to audition. [E! Online] Keep reading »

Crave: “The Secret Life Of Bees” DVD

“The Secret Life of Bees” is one of those movies that will make you cry, laugh and appreciate your friends. Set during the Civil Rights Era, the story focuses on Lily Owens (Dakota Fanning) whose journey to learn about her dead mother takes her to the home of the Boatwright sisters in South Carolina. Lily forms a maternal bond with each of the sisters as they expose her to comfort, grace and spirituality–luxuries she has never been afforded at home. Queen Latifah as August Boatwright is as warm and compassionate as Matron Mama Morton was money-hungry in “Chicago.” The other actors, including Jennifer Hudson, Sophie Okonedo and Tristan Wilds, were also perfectly cast. You will connect to each of the characters and the issues at hand. The DVD release date is February 3, but it’s available for pre-order now. [$19.99, Amazon.com] Keep reading »
