Cats live very stressful lives. You might not have known it, because they hide it very well, with all their fur licking, sleeping, pooping and general air of cool detachment and remove. But if this video of a cat enjoying the spoils of a neck massager is any indication, cats need all the relaxation they can get. [YouTube]
In 1915, Harry Whittier Frees published a book called The Little Folks of Animal Land. In it, Frees dressed up kittens and puppies in a bunch of human scenarios and created comical scenes. Because people have generally always loved laughing at animals in people clothes — long before ICanHazCheeseburger figured it out. Click through for a bunch of cute photos of pups and kitties from ye olde times.
All young leukemia sufferer Kye wanted was to get to play his favorite comic book character Batman. So the town of Arlington, Texas, got together and put together an adventure for Kye. Kye and his team of do-gooders encountered rascally criminals like The Joker and The Riddler, detonated “bombs” and recovered stolen money. The day ended with a ceremony at City Hall where Kye was given a key to the city.
We’re often shocked whenever we encounter nature in unlikely places, so you can imagine how this cat must feel, suddenly surrounded by a gaggle of deer. It seems the deer, too, are rather amazed to come across this tiny little white furball. Interspecies love affair? Well, not quite. [Tastefully Offensive]
Just wait til he gets drunk on a pitcher of margaritas and starts whipping his tiny sombrero around. It’s really a sight. [CutestLife]
Anybody who’s ever owned a cat knows that they choose you as much as you choose them. And that’s what makes the story of stray cat Bobcat and his owner James all the more remarkable. James, a street musician, takes Bobcat with him everywhere that he goes, and Bobcat happily seems to comply, even submitting to wearing a harness and walking around the streets of London with James on his daily jaunts. As James often reiterates to passerby, if he didn’t want to be there, he wouldn’t, but it’s clear that cat and man have a strong bond. [Laughing Squid]
This sloth in a onesie situation is just … it just … it needs to stop. These orphan sloths with mange are so adorable I kind of want to hurt them, in the same way some people (not me!) want to hug babies to death or punch sweet dogs in the face. It’s overwhelming! I could cry! Just, ugh, your helpless, alien-like little arms reaching out for comfort are making me want to die inside. [Buzzfeed]
These adorable little fluffernutters are a little bit cranky this morning. They’ve just been woken up by their owner, and would probably prefer to get another 12 hours of nap time in. These little British Shorthair kittens just wanna sleep, dammit, but since they’re up, would you mind getting them a bowl or three of milk? [The FW]
Today is not the best day. But it’s going to get better. That’s what I tell myself, and this clearly traumatized, but very cute, wet kitten. [Buzzfeed]
