Magician Rick Lax knows all kinds of nifty tricks, or as Gob Bluth would say, illusions. He’s probably used to receiving a major reaction from his audiences who are impressed by his skills of trickery. But in this video, Rick goes up against his toughest critics: cats. Their visible boredom as he pulls out all the stops to get their attention is a feeling of rejection every cat owner knows. After all, kitties are snobs. [Laughing Squid]
These days we have plenty of evidence that civilization is going to hell in a handbasket: Farrah Abraham’s erotic novelist career, elected officials making laws based on the belief that women are nothing more than barely sentient baby factories, the continuing existence of James Franco. BUT WAIT! There is finally a reason to celebrate, a beacon of hope in a dark world, the chosen one that will save us all — it’s a goat/sheep hybrid called a geep. The geep (rhymes with BEEEEEEEEEP!!!) sprang forth from the torrid love affair of a sheep and a goat in Ireland. According to the surprised farmer who discovered the unlikely progeny, the geep is quick, mischievous, wooly, and in perfect health.
Check out a video of this magical creature in action after the jump, and let me know if you want one of the “I BEEP FOR GEEP” bumper stickers that I’m making after work today. [Want. -- Amelia] Keep reading »
I have a new addition for my Forever Laugh file! This photo has been cracking me up ever since I saw it on DListed the other day. Given that it inspired multi-days-long LULZ for me, I thought it best to share it with you. Please note, while I am totally obsessed with both my dog Lucca and taking regular rock star baths, I don’t think I could ever bring myself to take a joint bath with Lucca. Though the desire to replicate this photo does burn fiercely inside me… [via DListed]
The heavens have opened and gifted us cat fanatics with a whole Saturday night dedicated to kitty-centered DIY projects. Cat Lady Craft Night is going down at the Brooklyn Craft Company in New York City this weekend and I will totally be there, presumably decked out in my favorite cat tights. This night of self-described “catlady nirvana” will teach crafters how to make papercut cat cards, cat mugs, cat earrings, cat tote bags and about a million other homemade goodies. The crafts are each at different stations for you to mingle between at your own pace while you eat snacks and guzzle cocktails. The evening also includes a raffle that benefits Brooklyn Animal Action, a no-kill group that works to better animals’ lives. I haven’t done much in the way of crafting before, so I’m really excited to try this out. Maybe I’ll even learn a thing or two churn out some Pinterest-quality creations? A girl can dream! If you want to come along and get your catlady on, check out the event page here to register and head to Brooklyn this Saturday. You know there’s nothing more awesome than a whole night of celebrating cats! [Image via Brooklyn Craft Company]
Not much is rough about being a cute baby … except when the family pets want to lick your face. And lick your face. And lick your face some more. This poor kiddo is not feeling it, but people off-camera (Mom and Dad, perhaps) keep coaching the bulldog puppy to go to town. Don’t think they didn’t know they had a viral video on their hands! I want to go give this poor child a bath. [YouTube]
YouTube yogi jahzyoga was trying to get her namaste on, but her cat Milo had other ideas in mind. The curious kitty couldn’t help photobombing her video because, as we all know, when cats demand attention, they demand it. [Glamour]
Prepare the Kleenex, for this is maybe the cutest story ever. Back in 2012, Claire Johnson and Mark Gaffey, who are both blind, met after they each signed up to be paired with seeing-eye companions at a guide dog training program in the UK. For two weeks, they worked extensively with their Labrador retrievers, Venice and Rodd, and during that time, the dogs developed a deep fondness for each other. “The trainers said that it was the romance of the course, the two dogs,” says Claire in the video above. “They’d always pull towards one another, ignore all the other dogs.” Venice and Rodd’s burgeoning relationship led Claire and Mark to spend more and more time together on doggie playdates, and sure enough, soon romance began to blossom between them as well. Last weekend, Claire and Mark were married, with their dogs/matchmakers acting as ring bearers during the ceremony.
“I have no doubt that our guide dogs brought us together and helped me find my true love,” says Claire. “Much like our two guide dogs, we really are best friends and soul mates.” Cutest foursome ever. [The Dodo]
When I saw you out of the corner of my eye scampering across the parking lot, I didn’t expect you to restore my faith in the universe. You seemed like just another squirrel, narrowly dodging cars, going about your squirrel business, but then I noticed something strange in your little squirrel paws.
“What is that squirrel holding?” my boyfriend asked, but before he could even finish the sentence, we both realized the answer was more glorious than we ever could have imagined.
“That squirrel,” I gasped, “is holding a mini corndog.” Keep reading »
American Eagle Outfitters has developed the “first-ever matching clothing line for dogs and their owners” and while we would normally roll our eyes at any attempts to dress like your dog, we are genuinely smitten. “American Beagle Outfitters” (HAHA) released a lookbook featuring pups of all breeds decked out in AEO gear and it is is beyond adorable. The line is set to hit stores later this spring — unless the whole thing is a big April Fools ploy, because, I mean, it’s almost too cute to be true. Either way, shoppers who sign up for the waiting list will receive a discount on purchases and a dollar from each order will be donated to the ASPCA.
Check out the lookbook’s canine models (and weigh in on which outfit Amelia should buy for Lucca)! [Duhhhhh, the puppy Baja hoodie worn by Ace (above) FTW! -- Amelia] [Fuck off, Mom. -- Lucca] [Fashionista]
Some call it animal abuse, others call it MAGIC. Either way, the confused pups in this video by magician Jose Ahonen have no idea where their treats went. Where are the treats?!?! [YouTube]
