Thanks to the wonders of technology, he was able to film their growth from birth to present day, editing the subtle shifts in facial expressions, hair length, tooth emergence, etc. into these three-minute odes to their life thus far. Six-year-old Drew Cox’s father was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, and the young boy wanted to do something to help his sick dad. So he decided to run a lemonade stand, selling cups for 25 cents a pop. Word spread about Drew and his dad, and friends from around the community showed up to support. One person even donated $5,000 to the cause. At the end of the day, Drew made more than $10,000 for his father. Just try not shedding a little eye water at this touching story. [KLTV]
Good morning! Here’s the best thing you will be see all day: the short film “Caine’s Arcade” is about a nine-year-old boy named Caine, who lives in LA and build his own arcade in his dad’s auto parts shop. As the film explains, Caine has always loved arcade games, so during his summer break, he started building his own games out of cardboard boxes, offering tickets to play to passersby. This film — from Caine’s Arcade’s first customer, Nirvan Mullick – captures the best day of his life, as a flash mob descends on the Arcade, ready to play all of Caine’s games. I am verklempt. The adorably talented kids from Brooklyn’s PS22 Chorus have done it again! This time, they’re taking on Rihanna’s hot track “We Found Love” — one of my favorites! — giving the song a uniquely innocent and hopeful flair. Loves it.
Eight-year-old Zoe fronts the rock group The Mini-Band, and she also knows how to play tons of killer riffs on guitar. We’re hoping she can team up with fellow 8-year-old, hardcore singer Juliet, for the ultimate kick ass, hard-rockin’ duo. [Neatorama]
I grew up with one foot in the hardcore music scene. I say only one foot because the scene was largely dominated by aggressive dudes bent on expressing themselves through violence, pushing girls to the back to act as real, live “coathangers” (i.e. coatholders) for the boys. But that may all be changing if 8-year-old Aussie Juliet has anything to say about it. Juliet recorded this incredible hardcore song and video about how much she loves her dog Robert and her fish. Across the board, kids in Halloween costumes are basically all adorable, but this might just be my personal favorite kid costume I’ve seen yet. As a Johnny Cash fan, I’m impressed with this little boy’s swagger. I think the Man in Black would be proud. [The Clearly Dope]
My first thought when I saw this adorable video of a little boy watching “The Empire Strikes Back” and learning that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker’s dad: Is this an old home movie of John DeVore as a kid?
