Even though “glitter” and “flats” are two of my favorite words, I must admit I initially gave this project the side-eye, since I assumed they would leave a little trail of glitter wherever you walked (which might be kind of magical in its own way, but mostly annoying). However, the brilliant Sues from We Are Not Martha swears that isn’t the case: “The glitter is stuck on there like whoa (thank you Mod Podge!), and the shoes are still super flexible.” Sweet! Worries abated, I’ve got a pair of scuffed up flats that are about to get glittered like whoa. [We Are Not Martha]

Craft Time: Makeup Magnet Board

My makeup organization system has always been some variation of “toss it all in a drawer and hope for the best,” which works out okay until I’m late for work and realize my only tube of mascara is buried somewhere beneath an impenetrable layer of apple-flavored lip glosses I haven’t used since seventh grade. Crafty blogger Laura came up with this awesome solution to makeup mayhem: a magnet board. Not only does it look cool, it allows you quick access to your favorite cosmetics and beauty tools. Check out the step-by-step instructions for making your own here. Keep reading »

Because I’m Crazy: My Fake Nails & Hair Weave Fascinator

So, a few weeks ago, when the Greatest Wedding of All Time happened and all those classy British people got to wear crazy things on their heads, I got a little bit obsessed with fascinators. You know, like the weird toilet seat cover Princess Beatrice wore, and then auctioned off. I had a dream, and in that dream, I was directed to make a fascinator myself. Out of fake nails and hair weave. Thirty dollars worth of supplies later (it takes a lot of money to look this cheap, as Dolly Parton says), voila! My hair creation has come to life. And this is why I don’t DIY. Keep reading »
