Tom Odell
He Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In

Taylor Swift fans don’t get any respect and I’m okay with that. It means that I’m willing to listen to this Tom Odell cover of “I Knew You Were Trouble,” sung as a ballad — instead of that faux dubstep weirdness — and Taylor haters are not.

In other news, that Tom Odell is a tall drink of water. I think we’ve found ourselves a new Hump Day Hottie! [Just Jared]

Evening Quickies: A Soulful “Toxic” Cover & Octomom Swears She Doesn’t Masturbate

  • “Toxic” is considered by many to be one of Britney Spears’ catchiest songs, but dare I say this cover is a better version? [Buzzfeed]
  • Drama! “Teen Mom 2″ dad Corey Simms — who has twins with Leah Mesner — reportedly hooked up with “16 & Pregnant”‘s Nikkole Paulun. [Crushable]
  • Kelly Osbourne, who is filled with opinions these days, is trash-talking Christina Aguilera now. [Popbytes]
  • Ryan Reynolds and Charlize Theron, who I guess were humping maybe for a hot second, are no longer humping. [Dlisted]

This Cee-Lo/Xtina/Adam Levine/Blake Shelton Cover Of “Crazy” Isn’t Half Bad

Pop song covers that become group projects have so much potential for failure and douche-itude. (See: Bret Michaels and Miley Cyrus duet, “Every Rose Has Is Thorn.”) But this “Crazy” cover by Cee-Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton on NBC’s new show, “The Voice,” is pretty damn hot. (But I’ll admit I’m biased, seeing as I believe Christina can do no wrong.) “Crazy” was Cee-Lo’s song originally, in case you didn’t know. NBC, put this on iTunes, please? Katy Perry Covers “Born This Way”

Covering songs is dangerous. You have to pick something obscure enough that a zillion people haven’t already done it, but recognizable enough that the audience will want to sing along. You have to give the song your own spin, while keeping true enough to the original that the song maintains its basic shape. So I think it’s a little strange that Katy Perry decided to cover “Born This Way,” Lady Gaga‘s new single that’s been accused of being a Madonna “Express Yourself” rip-off. Why? Well, because it’s so darn new. Also, I think the song is kind of a snoozer, so it you aren’t gonna pop out of an egg/womb-thingy for it, why bother? [People] Keep reading »

A sneak peek of my picks, after the jump… [The Frisky Muxtape] Keep reading »
