Today is 11/11/11, which is Veteran’s Day (currently being commemorated in a parade walking past The Frisky offices!), but it’s also Corduroy Appreciation Day. Every year, Corduroy Appreciation Day coincides with 11/11, as the date’s verticality pleasantly resembles the fabric’s pattern. But as the epic 11/11/11 only falls once every 100 years, so in honor of this even-more-special celebration, we’ve selected several fine corduroy pieces, designed to set your fine corduroy heart aflutter, on this magical, mystical day.

We’ll come clean: Opening Ceremony is one of those concept stores we love to follow and write about, but have we ever bought anything there? No. We believe the term is called … aspirational living. Anyhow, now’s the chance for us to step across the gilded threshold because the high-end retailer has teamed up with Levi’s to launch a special collection with a $150 price cap. The range will include some denim items, including jackets (nice, bringing them back), plus a bunch of unisex pieces (everyone’s favorite thing these days).

Interestingly, a large chunk of the line will be devoted to corduroy. Teen Vogue reports that there will be “eight different shades including lavender and curry.” The material is definitely classic, but come to think of it, we haven’t worn our corduroy pants in quite some time. Where To Meet Him: The Corduroy Club

Now you know how we all met our last significant others, but the question most of you are wondering is how are you going to meet your next significant other. Well, welcome to a brand new Frisky feature we’re calling “Where To Meet Him” in which we give you some info on events, happenings, and places you’re likely to find some interesting guys.

In honor of today’s date (11/11), our first “Where To Meet Him” subject is the Corduroy Appreciation Club, a “social club for people who like corduroy.” Meetings take place on dates which resemble corduroy, like January 11th, or 1|11, and today, November 11th, 11|11. Meetings, where members must wear at least two items of Corduroy, feature “secret rituals,” a keynote speaker, and a member open forum with “member inspired poetry, prose, song, artwork, dances, etc.” Geeky, artsy guys in corduroy?
