Topshop Does Louis Vuitton Bunny Ears On A Budget

Louis Vuitton’s now-famous bunny ears retail for about $335, which, given that you have to tie them yourself, is a bit steep for us. To remedy the situation, Topshop has just knocked them off at a lower price ($36!) and with a more convenient headband attachment. Yes, this remains a particularly ridiculous accessory, but they’re at least good for a costume…or a day when you’re feeling mischievous and know that work is going to be particularly boring. Ooh, Snap: Did Target Copy Itself?

Up top there, a belt (a kind of ugly one at that) from the Rodarte Target collection. Down below, a Sonia Kashuk duffle bag, also manufactured by Target. Hmm … those two look pretty gosh-darn similar in terms of material. Remarked the Racked reporter, who posted the pics, the Kashuk bag “in terms of how the material looks and feels, [is] a dead ringer for the Rodarte belt.” BTW, the reporter also mentioned how crappy the fabric is too. So does that mean that Target is recycling leftover stock? Here’s an interesting ethical question: Does that take something away from the design or even point to self-plagiarism? What about two different high-profile designers creating dresses from the same fabric because they shop at the same trimmings store?

What do you think: A mistake on Target/Rodarte’s part or big whoop, who cares? [Racked] Keep reading »

Fashion Elite: Monkey See, Monkey Do

Just because fashion editors are at the tippy-top of the new style food chain, watch as the newest and latest looks stroll down the runway and claim fashion is always “individual,” doesn’t mean they don’t jump on trend bandwagons like the rest of us. Want proof? Street style blog Streetpeeper witnessed so many Christopher Kane tops (both the high-end line and the Topshop versions!) this past London Fashion Week, he was moved to do some hilarious Photoshopping, above. Fashion folk sure are loving their Christopher Kane—as is Rihanna. [Streetpeeper] Keep reading »

Kelly Clarkson Gets Beyonce’s Sloppy Seconds

Kelly Clarkson‘s new single, “Already Gone,” probably sounds a bit familiar. That’s because you’ve already heard the music in Beyonce‘s love ballad, “Halo.” Evidently, music producer Ryan Tedder stupidly gave both ladies the same track, although they wrote very different songs to go with it. Beyonce beat Kelly out of the gate and by the time Kelly heard “Halo” and tried to stop the release of her song, it was too late. This snafu is causing all kinds of radio confusion—when Kelly’s song starts to play, people are expecting to hear “Halo.” And Kelly is very worried that people will label her a copycat. Project Runway’s Kenley Rips Off Alexander McQueen

The judges said it and the pictures speak for themselves (McQueen on the left, Kenley on the right). Girlfriend may not have been original, but the craftsmanship on her knockoff was still better than Jerrel’s doo-dad hot mess. Keep reading »
