Gregory Krum, the director of retail at the Shop at Cooper-Hewitt, the National Design Museum, shops for his job. When looking for a wedding present, he suggests gift-givers consider who the people getting married are, and where they are in their lives. You might be saying, “Duh,” but this is what he means: “If they are young and just starting out I give very useful things,” he said. “But if the couple is more established I can be more esoteric with the present.” Gregory recommends buying a gift that has a deeper meaning.
