Rag & Bone Will Make You An Art Star

Attention all artists, art school dropouts, or people who have time on their hands and know how to use a pencil and the internet: Rag & Bone (one of our favorite collections) is holding a mural contest. The NYC-based line recently moved into a new space in lower Manhattan, and they’ve got a spare outside wall they need designed. If you think you’ve got what it takes (and want literally tons of people to see your work when they pass by the shop everyday), submit your design to Rag & Bone. Five finalists will be put up for public vote on the Rag & Bone Facebook page, and the winner will get to execute his or her idea (paints will be provided). Start sketching! Diesel’s Stupid Contest Is Kind Of Smart

We’re the first to admit that Diesel‘s Be Stupid ad campaign annoys the hell out of us. For lack of a better word, it’s just, well, stupid. So when we heard that the denim brand was rolling out a contest to go along with the campaign, we weren’t exactly thrilled. As is turns out, though, the Be Stupid contest is by far the smartest part of the whole campaign. If you’ve made enough questionable decisions in your life, you can win everything from an iPad to a motorcycle trip across Europe just for being your dumb-dumb self. Here’s how it works … Keep reading »

Benetton’s Having A Model Contest!

Finally, a chance for normal people to represent: United Colors of Benetton is holding a global casting competition for its spring campaign, and they’re looking for non-models to do the job. All you have to do is build your profile by uploading your best pics–at least one close-up and one full-length–and explain a little bit about why you’re awesome. (That should be the easy part.) Then, browse the community to vote for other interesting faces. One-hundred finalists will go to New York to be whittled down to 20 by a group of judges. So, what are they looking for? “Something different, something unconventional, something surprising, something real. It’s not just how you look but how you are.” Which means you probably fit in there somehow, right? Submit your entry by March 16. [Casting.Benetton.com] Keep reading »

Dream Job: Win A Chance To Design Alongside The Olsens For Olsenboye

Dear Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen,

Since I was 13, I’ve wanted to be your BFF. Sadly, you ignored my fan mail and repeated friend requests. And now, you’ve gone and given me the opportunity to make my way into your inner circle, but it’s too late! You’ve opened up a contest to your fans to submit designs and essays to vie for a spot as an Olsenboye guest designer. So, the winner would basically get to be your awesome co-worker in NYC, and get to hang out with you both. Unfortunately, you had to put some pesky “age restriction” on the rules, and are only allowing entrants between the ages of 13 and 21. This, my dear Olsens, is a shame. Because were I still 13, I would win this contest, no doubt. So, if you could kindly increase the age limit to, say, 24, I would be ever so grateful.

I thank you in advance,

Your fan,

Leonora (And on behalf of all the Frisky staff. Excluding interns. Those college-aged kids will be getting extra coffee duty today just because we’re taking out our jealousy on them.) [OlsenBoyeDesignContest.com] Keep reading »

What If You Had $40,000 To Spend On Designer Clothes?

I almost regret sharing this news, mostly because I just entered myself, but I love you guys and this is a serious need to know. In celebration of their one millionth order, Net-A-Porter is offering fans the chance to win a $40,000 shopping spree, no purchase necessary. Here’s the link to enter. That’s like the granddaddy of all grand prizes ever, or, as I just read in Women’s Wear, “it equals a capsule Balmain wardrobe, 160 pairs of jeans or a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes every day for two months.” Sick. [WWD]

Now let’s play a little game, shall we? Say you won. How the hell would you even begin to spend it!? I think I’d start with a buttery soft Rick Owens biker jacket, some Alexander Wang sweats, a couple Vivienne Westwood Monroe dresses and sure, I’d throw some Louboutins in the mix. Then I would spend approximately one week (or more) agonizing over the rest. You? Keep reading »

Bluefly and StyleList are looking for the next big internet sensation, so give it your best shot by entering their America’s Most Stylish Blogger contest. The gig sounds pretty sweet—eight finalists will compete by crafting weekly posts about Bluefly items, and the blogger with the most votes will get a $1,000 Bluefly shopping spree, a special section on the site, plus a weekly column for StyleList (and, we’d imagine, tons of freebies from all over thanks to the exposure).

To enter, fill out the contest form which asks you questions about your blog, style, and fashion rules. But wait …. is “what’s your #1 style rule” a trick question? Are there style rules? Man, this test is hard. [AmericasMostStylishBlogger.com] Keep reading »

Your Chance At Photography Fame

If you think you’re the next Steven Klein or Mert and Marcus, then W magazine is ready to give you a chance. Starting tomorrow, the fashion magazine will accept submissions on their website for their first ever photography contest, “W: The Art Project.” The theme is obsession, so be prepared to fully consume your life with that one fixation you so love in order to submit the perfect picture.

From what we imagine will be a countless number of submissions, a panel of judges will pick only twenty, but the public is going to have the final say of just which photographer’s talent is high fashion magazine worthy. (AKA, beg and plead every person you’ve ever met to vote for you.) The prize for that one lucky winner not only includes a published moment in the glossy, but also a brand new camera and a three-month mentorship from art consultant Blair Voltz Clarke. Go quickly tell all your aspiring photographer friends. [NYMag.com] Keep reading »

How Raw Is Your Blog?

Is your blog so incredibly raw that its master deserves to be rewarded with $1000 worth of G-Star products? Is your blog so raw that it deserves to be mentioned in a magazine? If so, enter it in Dazed and Confused‘s Raw Blog Awards contest. The deadline is July 31st, after which the top 15 blogs in each category (music, fashion, arts & culture and photography) will be selected.

From there, it’s a cage match to the death. (By “cage match to the death” we mean “online poll starting August 1st.”) By September 1, the top blog in each of the four genres will be determined and the winners walk away with G-Star products and a mention in the October issue of Dazed and Confused. Not too shabby, eh? Keep reading »
