Maybe you’ve heard about how one of TV’s funniest shows, NBC’s “Community,” has been shelved for the remainder of the fall season, put on hiatus indefinitely because of poor ratings. Cast members and fans of the show are worried that the mid-season yank may mean the show is never coming back, and are rallying like never before to throw their support behind Joel McHale, Chevy Chase and the rest of the crew attending Greendale Community College. Some of the more vocal fans — the guys over at College Humor — went so far as to team up with the cast to make this funny commercial for the faux school. [College Humor]

Last summer, when I was just starting to dabble with Foursquare, the social networking app that let’s you “check in” to various locations, achieving badges and Mayorships and other ridiculous intangible rewards, I came up with a genius idea. (Or I thought it was anyway.) I added a new location, knowing it didn’t already exist in Foursquare’s expansive list of places. “Ryan Gosling’s Pants,” I typed, laughing at my own hilariousness. And then I checked in. Two check-ins later, I was officially the Mayor of Ryan Gosling’s Pants. It felt so good, I almost craved a post-coital cigarette. “Married By 30″: New Reality Show For Desperate Brides

Not content with women marrying men they barely know (“The Bachelor”), or have never met (“Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire?”), the Reality TV gods bring us “Married By 30,” about the world’s most desperate/pathetic women and gay men who HAVE to marry by the big Three-Oh. “Married By 30″ is currently casting 26- to 28-year-olds who are “part of the New York social scene and preferably spend summers in the Hamptons” to pick a wedding date and let cameras follow them for one year while they plan The Big Day. Because making a legally-binding contract to another person before some arbitrary, yet culturally significant, birthday is an awesome idea. Considering the company casting the show is College Humor, we’re hoping this is one big joke. But, on the chance that “Married By 30″ will seriously be shown on a “premier, upscale cable network,” I think we now know who won’t be “part of the New York social scene” anymore.
