Surely you were worried, but you can unclench your b-holes, bros, because the music video for “I’m Out” is fucking great. Nicki Minaj and Ciara are the funnest pair in hip hop. This is the second single from Ciara’s self-titled fifth album, out this week. Just the right mix of campy, sexy and girl power-y, “I’m Out” is your going out anthem of this summer. Ciara showed up at a Valentino store opening earlier this week rocking some seriously striking two-tone hair. Her locks go from deep, dark brown at the roots to white hot blonde at eye level down to the ends. It’s a pretty extreme version of the ombre hair trend–so, what do you think? Is it edgy and stylish or way past time for a touch-up?
In Ciara‘s new video, “Gimme Dat,” the singer sets the freaky fashion bar high. Among her super-sexy style flourishes: a sort-of fanny pack that spells out “FLY” paired with a pair of converse sneakers that are attached to see-through stripper heels. Add to that outrageous ensemble a pair of extra-short Daisy Dukes and a mesh and leather bustier, and you are ready to go. I’ll have to try wearing that to work one day next week and see how it goes over. Keep reading »
Ciara has been looking pretty unremarkable in photos lately. Don’t get me wrong, the singer/dancer’s body is still on point, but black leggings and eye-catching heels get kind of boring after a while. For the June/July 2010 issue of Vogue Paris, Ciara sheds her around-the-way attire and dons sheer, feathery, and glitzy garments instead. She stays on top of her shoe game, too, with a pair of thigh-high lace-up boots. The editorial was shot by fashion photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. And Riccardo Tisci, Givenchy’s creative director, styled the looks. These sultry photos prove Ciara deserves her modeling contract with Wilhemina. And we can’t wait to see more of this side of her. Check out two more photos after the jump. Keep reading »
Over on Salon’s Broadsheet, writer Tracy Clark-Flory gives Ciara‘s latest video, “Ride,” a rave review, deeming the performer “aggressively sexual in a way we don’t often see with pop music’s princesses.” And all you have to do is take one look at the video, and you’ll agree. Ciara has donned the typically-male swagger to show how sex positive a girl can get. “I can do it up and down/I can do circles,” she sings in her cowgirl anthem. “To him I’m a gymnast/This one is my circus.” Personally speaking, I think it’s going to be a while before I get all those moves down without breaking my back. While Ciara is sporting her cute short ‘do all over town, her hairstylist is simmering. Shirlena Allen, who says she’s been styling Ciara’s hair for over a year, says pictures of Ciara’s edgy “new” haircut posted on Twitter were totally misleading. According to Allen, the photos were taken over a year ago by Atlanta-based photographer, Derek Blanks. To prove her point, she draws attention to the fact that the photos posted by Ciara and the haircut the pop star is wearing now are “two different styles.” Instead of being happy about the exposure though, Allen is angry because the pop star allegedly has yet to pay her for it! Now, she’s trying to get paid the new-fashioned way: by yapping to blogs about it! She told a gossip site, “I asked for the wig back a year ago, and she says she can’t find it … She has no identity. Still trying to find a look.” We know Ciara’s hairstyle kind of resembles Rihanna’s, but isn’t that a bit harsh? [Bossip] Keep reading »
The best thing about her performance on “Saturday Night Live” was her tights. [NYC, 5/9/09] Keep reading »
