London Fashion Week Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear: Days 1-5

Spanning just five days, London Fashion Week is the shortest of the ready-to-wear fashion weeks. It’s also in many ways the most entertaining: the attendees, the street style, and most of all, the clothes on the runway are consistently lighter-hearted than New York and Milan’s more austere ambiance. Just take legendary designer Tom Ford, for example, who unveiled his first ever London catwalk show with a collection more vividly multi-ethnic than the pure streamlined elegance he’s known for. London Fashion Week has come and gone, so we’ve pulled five of our favorite shows from the five days — let’s take a look at Marios Schwab, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Burberry Prorsum, Roksanda Ilincic, and one veeeeery un-Tom Ford Tom Ford collection … Keep reading »

British designer Christopher Kane won’t be replacing John Galliano at Dior. Kane’s was the latest name banded about as a possible replacement for Galliano. Kane says he’s statying in charge of his eponymous line and remaining the head of Versace’s Versus label.

Stefano Pilati is out as head of Yves St. Laurent. Hedi Slimane, (pictured) who used to be in charge at Dior Homme, will take over.

And Raf Simons is allegedly out as the head designer of Jil Sander, saying on Sunday, “I am leaving Milan tomorrow, forever,” after showing his most recent collection for the brand.

Got all that straight? Great.

Fashion Elite: Monkey See, Monkey Do

Just because fashion editors are at the tippy-top of the new style food chain, watch as the newest and latest looks stroll down the runway and claim fashion is always “individual,” doesn’t mean they don’t jump on trend bandwagons like the rest of us. Want proof? Street style blog Streetpeeper witnessed so many Christopher Kane tops (both the high-end line and the Topshop versions!) this past London Fashion Week, he was moved to do some hilarious Photoshopping, above. Fashion folk sure are loving their Christopher Kane—as is Rihanna. [Streetpeeper] Keep reading »

Donatella Versace Brings Back Her Fave Old-School Label

Donatella Versace is going back to her roots (and it has nothing to do with her bleached hair). The blond fashionista and chief designer at Versace has announced plans to bring back Versus, the first collection she designed on her own for her family’s label. Versus first debuted in 1989 as the younger, chicer, and less pricey sister line to Versace, but then shut down 16 years later in 2005. After the four-year hiatus, Donatella asked “it” Brit designer Christopher Kane to create a small accessories collection for the line back in February. The blingy, studded and rock ‘n’ roll chic pieces he designed may be indicative of what we can expect for Versus’ Spring 2010 debut. “The collection reflects Versus’ DNA,” Versace told Women’s Wear Daily, “And is aimed at young people who want to dress with their own style but like to evolve and break new ground.” [Fashionologie] Keep reading »
