As if the holidays weren’t reason enough to fight with your neo-con relatives about politics, now you can have George W. Bush right on your tree. The George W. Bush Presidential Center in Texas is selling Christmas tree ornaments emblazoned with a painting of a red cardinal by Dubya himself. He is a semi-decent painter, you know! The ornament read “George W. Bush Presidential Center” across the top and “Christmas 2013″ across the bottom. The $29.98 cost is real score for the faithful in the war on Christmas. We’ll hold our breath for the Jay Leno-emblazoned yarmulke. [Talking Points Memo]

This holiday season we’re really letting our crafty flag fly. Homemade gifts and decorations are not only unique, heartfelt, and (often) better for the environment, they’re also really fun to make: crank up the Christmas music, pour yourself a cup of hot cocoa, and get crafting! After the jump, a roundup of Christmas tree-inspired clothes and accessories … Keep reading »
This holiday weekend, we’ll be getting our Christmas tree up. Yay! But gurl, just because we like some traditions, doesn’t mean we want our 5-foot fir looking like everyone else’s. So, this year, we’re skipping bland plastic balls and grabbing a bunch of bad ass handmade ceramic ornaments by Edwards Pottery AKA Etsy seller HeartherLEdwards123. Our fave are these skull and cross bone cuties. Plus, she’s also crafted awesome owls, adorable kittens, and bitchin’ bones. But the best part is, after the holidaze, you can still show off these super cool ceramic pieces by wearing them as a statement necklace. Bonus!
There are two types of holiday partiers: those who drink to enhance the merry quality of the season and those who drink to escape the torture of it. If you fall into the latter category you know it can be quite unseemly, so here’s this Christmas tree ornament that’s also a flask from Urban Outfitters. We know, you’re thinking, How is that not the most obvious thing in the world? Consider the following instructions: 1. Fill with vodka. 2. Place innocently on tree. 3. Now you have a stash to surreptitiously rely on during horrible family gatherings. (For my fellow Jew friends, you could try hanging this on the menorah, but that would both incur the wrath of bubbie Sadie and be a fire hazard.)*
* You know we’re being cynics, right? Drinking in secret during the holidays is a bad sign. We prefer to raid the family liquor cabinet and do it out in the open. Keep reading »
