What Do We Think Of Christian Siriano’s New Maternity Line?

Pics are out of Christian Siriano‘s new maternity collection (random) for Moody Mamas. We’re not sure what’s to be expected of a designer maternity line (is anyone ever actually excited to wear those clothes?), but what we’re seeing here doesn’t show the fierceness Siriano is known for. What he’s brought to the closet: a series of girly silk dresses, ruffle tops, and standard sweaters. On the other hand, when you’re pregnant, how edgy do you want your clothes to be? Do you want to stand out for being fashion-forward? Or would you rather just wear normal, neutral styles that make you look like what you’re about to become … a mom.

Christiano Siriano Says Kate Gosselin Cribbed His Look

“Project Runway” winner Christian Siriano had some words for Kate Gosselin at Fashion’s Night Out last week. “Is she trying to rock my look?” he wondered. “If she was a real person, which at this point, now she is not, then I think it is a cool, cute look. I’d be like, ‘Oh lady, look at you, you look fabulous!’ Now she needs to up her game.”

Christian does, kind of, sort of, really have a point. I knew I’d seen the “Kate” cut before! [Us Weekly via Celebitchy] Keep reading »

How Fierce: Christian Siriano Writes A Book

We saw this one coming a mile – or at least a catwalk – away. Since his stint on Project Runway, Christian Siriano has consistently stormed the fashion world with project after project. After debuting his own collection, maternity clothes, and Payless shoes, now Siriano is coming out with a book. As one might expect it is called “Fierce Style: How To Be Your Most Fabulous Self.” Keep reading »

Christian Siriano For Payless Is Perfect For The Tranny With An Office Job

Christian Siriano‘s shoe line for Payless is now available, and even though we caught a glimpse of them during New York Fashion Week, we’re still disappointed. At least the ones the models at his show wore were interesting/scary, with spikes and chains galore. The two pairs currently on Payless’ website look like they were made for a tranny who works as the assistant to a business executive. Upon seeing the shoes, our Annika replied, “They hurt my feelings.” They’d probably hurt our feet, too. Keep reading »

Christian Siriano To Unveil Starbucks Mystery

The Cut reported recently that “Project Runway” designer Christian Siriano will be unveiling his special “holiday collaboration” with Starbucks today. Despite this exciting gossip, news sources are not allowed to tell us anything until November 17th. This is tragic and very, very, very many fashion light years away. We can only guess that it will be a cookie with his face on it or, like, coffee cozies he’s designed that say “Don’t Make A Hot Mess!” to urge you not to spill. We hope it’s new uniforms — sigh, they are so drab and paper bag brown. Grab a free Starbucks pastry today while you ponder this mega news and give us your best guess. Christian Siriano For Payless 2.0

So, is it fierce enough for you?  Christian Siriano of “Project Runway” fame is continuing his collaboration with Payless Shoes. If you remember, the budget shoe company sponsored Siriano’s spike studded footwear for his fashion show during New York Fashion Week back in February. His runway shoes have inspired his Fall 2009 collection for Payless which will be in stores this August and retail between $30 and $50. Egyptian hieroglyphics are a strong inspiration for the collection which will feature metallic fabrics, chain metal details, and teals and turquoise tones reminiscent of the Nile. Like the designer himself, the shoes sound a bit dramatic — but I think they are actually cute. This teal “Slither” bootie is one of several styles in the range and will retail for $49.99. What do you think? Ferosh or hot tranny mess? Keep reading »

Christian Siriano For Payless Looks Dangerously ‘Meh’

And I do mean dangerous! Those spikes could mess a bitch up! The “Project Runway” winner just showed at Fashion Week, but chances are, his upcoming line for Payless is the only Siriano-approved hot tranny fierceness the average woman can afford. Expected to be priced at an affordable $25-$45 per pair when they come out in fall, the line of budget footwear is conceptually aligned with Siriano’s fashion line, which used a lot of brown and turquoise. The shoes are certainly fashion forward for Payless, but they’re also a little underwhelming considering the source. Still, when these hits stores, I’m going to check them out in person. They’ve got to be better than the hideous styles designed by Patricia Field and Alice + Olivia. [NY Mag] Keep reading »

“Hot” Is No Longer Hot

Christian Siriano must be pissed. In Sunday’s New York Times Magazine, grammar/language columnist William Safire wrote about the adjective “hot” and how it is falling out of fashion as an indicator of cool. Apparently “Fierce is where it’s at.” Professor Connie Eble at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill took a survey of students and found that fierce no longer means “ferocious,” and has replaced “hot” as the word to use when describing something extremely attractive. Throughout his whole discussion, Safire neglected to share why “fierce” has risen in popularity — through Christian’s use of the word on Project Runway, of course! In our opinion, “fierce” won’t replace “hot” until people of both sexes and all sexual orientations use it. Have you ever heard a straight men say “fierce” in a non-joking manner?
