I’ve typically shied away from wearing nude tones, but I’m super into this new trend of mixing nudes with neons and brights. Designers like Christian Siriano did it on the runway for spring, and it seems like a great way to tone down what could be too much color. Pairing a nude shirt with a bold skirt is a great way to get more use out of both pieces. Oooh, la-la! “Project Runway” alum Christian Siriano sent his latest collection down the runway at New York Fashion Week, and his flowing looks were coupled with his newest footwear designs for Payless Shoes. They’re pretty hot — from the sculpted wooden heels to the red octopus straps — although, some of them do look a bit … familiar. (A previous collection seemed “inspired” by Alexander McQueen’s heels.) What we want to know is what they look like when they end up on the Payless shelves. Payless we get. Starbucks is stretching it. But talk about random: Christian Siriano‘s latest marketing partnership is with O-Cel-O, the iconic makers of sponges. (The cleaning aids not the birth control method.) The “Project Runway” winner and brand whore is apparently working with the cleaning products company to “give the everyday scrub sponge a fierce makeover.” We’re not sure what this means. Season after season, I fall in love with the designs that Christian Siriano sends down the runway. So as soon as I heard that he would team up with Payless to provide his shoe designs to the lower priced store, I was floored and obsessed. After sitting in his runway show, I’d stalk the blogs for any details about the upcoming collection, but his looks were always slightly toned down for mass appeal. (Here’s a past collection.) And yet again for spring 2010, I was fully expecting his towering heels to receive their bland Payless spin, though undoubtedly I would still stalk the store to check them out. Boy, was I wrong. Here’s a peek at the shoes set to appear in stores come mid-March for spring 2010, and they’re anything but calm. At $79.99 each, these are heels which are certainly an investment price for Payless shoes, but as long as this is actually what appears in stores, I’ll be more than pleased — I’ll be a new Siriano shoe owner. Pics are out of Christian Siriano‘s new maternity collection (random) for Moody Mamas. We’re not sure what’s to be expected of a designer maternity line (is anyone ever actually excited to wear those clothes?), but what we’re seeing here doesn’t show the fierceness Siriano is known for. What he’s brought to the closet: a series of girly silk dresses, ruffle tops, and standard sweaters. On the other hand, when you’re pregnant, how edgy do you want your clothes to be? Do you want to stand out for being fashion-forward? Or would you rather just wear normal, neutral styles that make you look like what you’re about to become … a mom.
