Today’s Lady News: Queen Latifah Says Give Chris Brown “A Second Chance”

  • Queen Latifah has spoken up to say it’s time to stop punishing Chris Brown for his assault on Rihanna last year. “The guy is a young guy and he made a big mistake and he needs to bounce back from that,” she said. “And he needs an opportunity for a second chance … We can’t condemn that kid. He’s a kid and he needs to correct the mistake for the future, not live in the past. He needs to be forgiven. Enough already. We can’t keep beating him up.” What do y’all think? Was Chris Brown Trying To Save His Career With That BET Awards Performance?

So last night, Chris Brown performed at the BET Awards, paying tribute to Michael Jackson with a dance medley and song. It’s no wonder Chris fancies himself the next MJ — that boy can dance and totally showed Rihanna how the Moonwalk is done. But when it came to singing “Man in the Mirror,” a song that definitely hits home for Chris after he beat the crap out of Rihanna last year, Chris was a blubbering mess. Seriously, I don’t think he completed one lyric. He just flailed his arms, wiped his tears, and hung his head while the crowd and Michael (through a recorded version of the song) sang. Chris Brown Is Still Crying About Michael Jackson’s Death

Last night on the BET Awards, Chris Brown — you know, that guy who beat up Rihanna and fancies himself “the next Michael Jackson” — performed a tribute to the late King of Pop. Brown was so “overwhelmed” by “emotion” — i.e. he saw an opportunity to draw attention to himself in a desperate attempt to appear compassionate and sensitive — that he broke down into tears and had to be comforted backstage by Jackson’s brother Jermaine. As Annika would say, SMH. Shaking. My. Head. Keep reading »

Quotable: Rihanna Talks About Matt Kemp And Chris Brown

“I have a boyfriend [Matt Kemp]. I’m so happy. I feel really comfortable, and it’s so easy. I have such a chaotic life, but at the end of the day, that is just my peace. It keeps me sane, really, talking to him and talking to my family … A year ago, I was very confused. Because [Chris Brown] was my best friend. All of a sudden, one night changed our whole lives—not only our friendship, but our lives. I wanted to wake up one day and just not have that pain anymore. I wanted to be with him again or get over him—it was either-or. I just didn’t want to feel the pain, the confusion.”

Rihanna also talks fashion designers, the strength and vulnerability of women and stardom, in the July issue of Elle [The YBF] Keep reading »
