Drug Addicted Women Paid $300 To Go On Birth Control

A controversial group called Project Prevention in Knoxville, Tennessee is paying drug addicts and alcoholics not to get pregnant. The group is traveling across the United States this summer in an RV, offering addicts $300 to be sterilized, or $300 per year each year they go on long-term birth control. [WATE.com]

Slain Abortion Provider Dr. Tiller’s Clinic Closed Permanently

The Wichita clinic formerly run by Dr. George Tiller, who was murdered by anti-choice crusader Scott Roeder on May 31, has closed permanently. As a result, the closest abortion provider for Tiller’s patients will be a three hour drive both ways to Overland Park. It is unclear if that clinic, the Center For Women’s Health, can provide late-term third-trimester abortions like Tiller’s did.

Having Less Choices Might Help Our Love Lives

When our neocortex was developing way back in the day, the average human group consisted of around 150 people, and members of reproductive age totaled around 25. Sounds like slim picking compared to the abundance of prospects available today through online dating sites like Match.com, right? Well, researchers studied people’s preferences for how many options are best when it comes to how satisfied people are with mate options, and among the 88 study participants, 20 to 50 possible mates seemed to be the preferred amount. Using online dating with access to millions of guys might actually be hindering us. It’s like when you go to a restaurant that has 100 different sandwich choices on its menu.
