We spotted Aïda Oualalou, 20, browsing through street vendor jewelry on an extremely congested Avenida Santa Fe. This finance student says she finds most of her wardrobe at street fairs, or ferias. Buenos Aires has plenty of them within the city, and all her jewelry is from various ferias except the ivory cuff from Senegal. Not that Aïda needs any extra help in the sizzle department, but she manages to amp up this scorchin’ red number (from a San Telmo feria) with a gold, braided belt (from a Recoleta feria). The bag was a present, and the sandals are from Zara. Also, do we really need to mention how much we love her hair? Overt works for her. We love. Keep reading »

We thought Lucia Alvarez Fourcade was a girl who looks like she enjoys life when we first spotted her. Maybe it’s that vibrant pattern or the neo-folksy styling. Nineteen-year-old Lucia, an undergrad in psychology, enthusiastically shared that her dress, earrings and necklace are the work of indie designer Lucia LaPlacette, all sold at a Buenos Aires antique market called Anasagasti Antigüedades. This rare gem stands out from a sea of hyper trendies in a more demure ensemble. We found Ana Pucci on her way home from cooking the lunch rush at Artemisia, an organic vegetarian restaurant—which is also pretty rare in Buenos Aires. We were into her sweet Sanskrit skirt, which she bought near Plaza Serrano. All-natural, indeed. Keep reading »

Hardworking ladies need to have fun too! We found Christina Sunae Wiseman, 35, checking out the local music scene (in Buenos Aires) at the Konex Cultural Centre. This NYC transplant is quite the entrepreneur in BsAs—she owns this tour company and Cocina Sunae, a private restaurant (or puerto cerrada to the locals) where she serves up Korean, Thai and Filipino food. Kudos to this chica for keeping it all together while looking pretty major in a purple dress by Akiabara, black and white print scarf from Alexi Andriotti, Target sandals, and bag by Bolu. Photographer Juana Lander, 25, was shooting an indie rock event at the Konex in Buenos Aires when she asked to take a picture of this Frisky photographer. She didn’t know that we were already eyeballing her punky combo: leather jacket by Rapsodia, DAM turquoise bustier dress and shoes from Converse. Deborah Oks, 20, mixes her eclectic sensibility with items she borrowed from her fam. Deborah, an architecture student, is wearing her sister’s tunic from Rapsodia, and, get this, her grandma’s tights. (“It’s true,” she exclaimed and showed us the waistband at her ribcage. “See how high!”) We also heart the red accents from the necklace (a present) and slides, which Deborah picked out while traveling in Cusco, Peru. When Buenos Aires starts to feel like an outdoor sauna, smart porteñas like Gretel Morús manage to stay cool and pretty in pink. Busy lady Gretel, 32, is a freelance fashion designer who is also working on a line of hair accessories. This lady travels—her dress is from Portobello Road in London, her bag was 29 euros from Sara in Cyprus (“My best buy!” she exclaims), her shoes are handmade from Mandarine in Buenos Aires and her sunglasses are Ray-Ban.
