Anne Hathaway Is “Living On Kale and Dust” To Fit Into The Cat Suit

“Last time we talked about how much I really don’t like working out, and I’ve kind of fallen. … I really like it now. I feel like, ugh, I’m that person. I came to L.A., got a bikini wax, went blond and loooove working out. The catsuit’s unforgiving, man. I’m a vegetarian and right now, I’m living on kale and dust for the training.”

Anne Hathaway talks to Chelsea Handler about how she’s staying in shape for her role as Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Nooooo, Anne! Eating next to nothing while you’re exercising tons just isn’t okay. Perhaps she confabbed with Jessica Alba, who recently shared with Lucky that’s she’s losing her baby weight by eating 1200 calories a day. “Basically I’m starving—it sucks,” she said. “I drink a lot of water.” Now, there is a part of me that would rather see actresses being honest about their strict diets rather than being all “I eat cheeseburgers all the time and am just naturally this skinny.” But I really wish these women didn’t feel the pressure to live in nutritional misery to whittle off pounds. And it really worries me that giving flippant quotes like these normalizes extreme dieting. [NY Daily News, ONTD]

Elizabeth Banks And Chelsea Handler Get Mistaken For Each Other Often

On Monday, Chelsea Handler tweeted, “Elizabeth Banks is on tonight’s show, so all my dreams have come true; I can now say I’ve interviewed myself.” Sure they do look a bit alike in that both-have-shoulder-length-blonde-hair-and-angular-faces way, but apparently people confuse them all the time? In last night’s interview, Chelsea divulged that the comparison isn’t always flattering. Chelsea explained, “People always say they look alike, but Chelsea is obviously much later. Meanwhile, we’re the same age.” Elizabeth shared that it goes both ways for her too. “I was sitting in Toronto and a guy walked up to me and said, ‘My girlfriend loves you. She would die if I got your autograph.’ I was like, ‘Sweet. Cool.’ He said, ‘I just love your books, My Horizontal Life.’ I was like, ‘Oh, he thinks he’s meeting Chelsea Handler.’ I couldn’t ruin it for him. He asked, ‘What are you doing in town?’ So I said, ‘I’m on a book tour.’ Just being Chelsea, drinking my vodka.” [LA Times] Keep reading »

Vanessa Carlton On Coming Out As Bisexual To Her Mom

Yay, Vanessa Carlton has a new album out! She sat down with Chelsea Handler to gab about the new CD and of course Chels gets right down to brass tacks: “So you recently came out as a bisexual?” Carlton performed at a gay rights event and told the audience, in an offhand way, that she’s had relationships with both men and women. This came as news to her family! She said her mom called her on the phone upset because “she’s concerned about being a grandma.” Keep reading »

Chelsea Handler Says Her Show Is Making Her Brain Bleed

“I want to do something that’s going to utilize my brain a little more than this show. If ['Chelsea Lately'] is the show that I’m going to do, it’s going to change. But it may turn out that I’m done with it altogether. I can’t keep doing the same thing; my brain is bleeding. I want to do something that’s more mindful and isn’t celebrity-centered. I’m not looking to totally bail on E! They’ve done a lot for me, and I like it here. If you take away the Kardashians.”

Chelsea Handler talks to The Hollywood Reporter about what she hopes will happen now that her contract with E! is creeping towards finished. The network is trying hard to extend her contract, but Chelsea says she hasn’t been so impressed with their counter-offers and it sure sounds like she’s ready for a big change. But she swears it isn’t ‘The Tonight Show.’ “That’s a job for Jimmy Fallon. I’m way too divisive for a show like that,” she says. At least she is self-aware? [THR] Keep reading »

Eva Mendes Explains Why She’ll Never Marry

Actress Eva Mendes has a lot in common with the host of “Chelsea Lately.” Apart from sharing a taste for shoes with really super-high heels, both Mendes and Chelsea Handler admit they have an aversion to getting married.

Mendes believes in true love and spiritual unions and all that good stuff — she’s just not into having a piece of paper to seal the deal. “We were doing it for land originally. I mean, how unromantic is that?” she asked.

“Well,” replied the ever-practical Handler, “if we were doing it for land now I’d probably be more interested.” Read more… Keep reading »

Roseanne Barr Headed Back To The Small Screen?

Doesn’t everyone wish they had an aunt like Roseanne Barr? Well, apparently, Chelsea Handler does. Chelsea revealed this week that she is in talks with Roseanne to have her join the cast of “Are You There Vodka?,” the NBC sitcom based on Chelsea’s best-selling book which stars “That ’70s Show”‘s Laura Prepon as Chelsea and Chelsea herself as her older, pregnant sister. If Roseanne signs on, she will be playing Chelsea’s crazy aunt. Keep reading »

Chelsea Handler Had An Abortion At 16

chelsea handler photo

“I had an abortion when I was 16. Because that’s what I should have done. Otherwise I would now have a 20-year-old kid. Anyway, those are things that people shouldn’t be dishonest about it … People are too P.C. We need to be focusing on other things. We’re seeking out such grossness in human behavior and want such mindless entertainment. ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and some of these other shows are more racist. Or ’16 and Pregnant.’ Getting rewarded for being pregnant when you’re a teenager? Are you serious? I mean, that makes me want to kill somebody.”

Chelsea Handler reveals to The New York Times that when she was a teenager, she got pregnant and opted to have an abortion. Hmmmm … somehow I’m way more interested in this than the profile writer’s observation that Chelsea has the “pre-silicone lushness of a ’60s Playmate.” We want to hear your story, Chelsea. Chelsea Handler Looks Like A “Playmate,” Says NY Times

“Below the neck, Ms. Handler is arranged along old-fashioned lines. Writers have described her as a California surfer type, but the truth is closer to the fantasy. In person, without makeup, her body has the pre-silicone lushness of a ’60s Playmate.”

WTF? Regardless of your opinion on the comedienne Chelsea Handler (I love her, mostly), writer Cathy Hornyn’s third paragraph of her profile in Sunday’s New York Times is aggravating as all get out. Yeah, Handler is attractive. But what’s the point of describing her body? Is the author trying to imply it’s helped Handler in her success? (Whether it did or not is debatable.) Even if one does think Handler’s attractiveness is salient to the article, it really pisses me off that Hornyn referred to her subject as “Playmate”-like before even mentioning her successes as an author and TV show host. Would an attractive male comedian’s body be mentioned in the third paragraph of a NYT profile — or at all? [Personally, I thought the entire profile was snide. -- Editor] [NY Times] Keep reading »

Chelsea Handler Is Too Direct For Some Men

“I’m not easy. I’m difficult to be in a relationship with. I’m not that feminine, I’m kind of a little bit too direct for some men, but that’s good because those men don’t like me anyway so they don’t even come near me.”

Chelsea Handler on the burdens — or blessings? — of being a strong woman on the dating scene. I hear ya, Chelsea. It’s hard out there for a girl who calls it like it is. [PopEater] Keep reading »
