Charlotte Ronson Proves Just How Skinny Models Really Are

Charlotte Ronson Fashion Show

We love, love love seeing Annabelle Dexter-Jones—Charlotte’s lil’ (step) sis—walk in Ronson’s runway shows. And she’s fairly tall and quite thin so she fits in with all those Amazonian goddesses (or starving teenagers, depending on your perspective) just fine. In fact, it’s so very refreshing that this season we noticed how cuckoo bananas it is that, despite her petite frame and not being a total shrimp, she still looks like a healthier, more normal version of the models she was surrounded by. That’s just how mind-bendingly skinny these girls are. We know that Charlotte doesn’t have enough siblings and half-siblings to supply an entire runway show, but how much cooler would it be if she just started using “real” girls instead of models. It might even help sell more clothes.

And moving on to the threads, they were very, well, Charlotte Ronson-y. Hip, fun, girly yet edgy, you know the shtick. But there was definitely some kind of rock ‘n’ roll geisha meets fitness instructor situation going on that was slightly confusing, but whatever. One thing’s fo sho: Those shoulder pads we’re seeing everywhere for fall? Well if Ronson has any say in the matter, she’d like to see girls rockin’ the glam-rocked quarterback look well into next spring. (I, personally, am OK with that, but I know a lot of people will beg to differ—and that’s OK, too.) Her signature jumpsuits are here to stay. Besides the ‘80s workout video headbands and leather obi belts, the see-through knee-length leggings were, well, they were certainly something. I’d pop ‘em under a skirt; why not? After the jump, more looks from the show.

Oh. And one more question to no one in particular: What was Erin Wasson doing there when she should have been crazed prepping for her show (a few hours after Charlotte’s. Note to celebs/models-turned designers: At least try to look like you’re actually working!

Gallery: Mischa, Hilary, & Eva Amurri Heart (Charlotte) Ronson

    I Heart Ronson Party

On Thursday night The Frisky got invited to attend a summer BBQ-themed party for the fall collection of Charlotte Ronson’s “I Heart Ronson” line for JCPenney at The Lighthouse in NYC. I got a chance to chat with the designer—along with guests like Eva Amurri, Hilary Duff, Sophia Bush, and Shwayze—about what inspired her. “Lots of prints, plaids, florals,” she said, “Those clothes you can mix and match, that just look better as they get more worn.” The look is kind of ‘60s countryside, with a little rock ‘n’ roll edge. Very cute and very affordable.

Keep clicking to see who else walked the red carpet, what interesting little tidbits they shared with The Frisky, and to see me model the free I Heart Ronson dress I scored…

Designer Collaborations Are Only A Good Thing When Done Right

    I Heart Ronson for JCPenney

JCPenney’s collaboration with designer Charlotte Ronson, I Heart Ronson, just came out, but I’m not going to buy anything from it. In fact, I’m getting a little sick of designers collaborating with big retailers.

When Target first began doing its Go International designer collaborations back in 2006 with Luella Bartley, I was beyond psyched. At the time, I was an assistant at a magazine and wasn’t making anywhere near enough to pay for some of the styles on its page. With Go International, I could at last afford clothes by the new designers everyone was talking about. And because the lines were nicely done and even the people who could afford the pricier stuff wanted pieces from them, there was no shame in buying a dress from Target.

Urban Outfitters Launches Secondary Lines With Indie Designers

    Urban Outfitters

Marc, I love you, but things aren’t working out. I just can’t afford your $400 tops anymore. This is why I’ve turned to Urban Outfitters lately to get my designer fashion fix.

Over the past few months, Urban Outfitters has jumped on the fashion “class for the masses” bandwagon, a phenomenon made popular by Target’s collaborations with luxury designers. This time, however, Urban is reaching out to a more indie aesthetic, commissioning cult designers like Geren Ford and Charlotte Ronson to create exclusive, secondary collections. The lines play no second fiddle to the real deal. In May, UO launched with Ford’s collection, titled Hawks, an assortment of bright pieces with a candy-coated sailor vibe.

    Crave: Rad Ronson Romper

    Charlotte Ronson romper

In the famous Ronson family, Mark’s got the music, Sam’s got the nightlife, and Charlotte, well, she got the style.  From head to high-heeled wedges, her simple and sophisticated glamor make femininity seem as easy as sliding into a onesie. You know a girl’s got talent when she can turn booty shorts into a chic ensemble!  And she’s done just that with the blue and white striped romper from her Summer ‘08 Collection. It’s the perfect cotton outdoor activity outfit with those little something extras—the back tie, ballet rouched halter neckline, and button pocket details. Just like her siblings, Charlotte doesn’t miss a beat.  She makes us wanna romp up the volume! [$106.40, ShopBop.com]

    Who IS Samantha Ronson, Anyway?

    Samantha Ronson

For those of you who don’t hang from every typed word of the gossip magazine and blogs, here is a little tutorial on Lindsay Lohan’s best friend/rumored girlfriend, Sam Ronson.

    • LOVES: Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson have been gallivanting together for a few years now, but they’ve been rumored to be in a relationship since before Lindsay went to rehab. Since leaving rehab, Lindsay and Sam have taken their love public over the last four months, though they haven’t explicitly acknowledged that they’re a couple. But, I mean, it’s obvi. And we think they’re ADORABLE!
